Painting The Calipers...

Would my stock calipers look good or decent painted? Even with that extra piece on there?

You can kind of see it, but I found out how to get the calipers off, really easy actually.

I do have everything I need to start painting, engine degreaser and high-temp spray paint, so anything else?

What would you use engine degreeser for? That stuff will leave a nasty residue. All you need to do is get some light grit sandpaper (or better yet one of those sanding sponges), sand the surface to be painted, spray off with brake cleaner (to remove dust and dirt), and paint.

Painted calipers look great when done right. I painted my caliper brackets black and my calipers to match the car (as close as I could). Here's a pic:

painted calipers

Also, you can use aluminum foil for masking areas off you don't want painted. I painted mine bright red. but it took 8 to 10 coats for it to really take a hold and they now look great. my 13 yr old told me that i'm trying to be a ricer. I guess from him. that must be a complament!!!

Ya, never saw those before Joe, very nice. Thanks, I remember someone telling me to use engine degreaser and then an air compressor to just spray it with. I'll try it and let you know, hopefully in good time, working 6 days this week so I'll get to it eventually! Sat. hopefully. And I've decided on black for brackets and red for calipers, will have to go back and get more supplies, have some stuff waiting to go back to Wal-Mart anyways

i just used aluma-blast paint... i didn't really want my calipers to stand out too much behind the rims... they look really good silver & i'm glad i didn't paint them red like i had originally planned..

mine haven't chipped up or anything... just make sure to get some brake cleaner & clean them off REALLY well. i used brake cleaner like 4 times overall untill my rag was clean when i wiped it up.. then just for good measure i used some 600 grit sandpaper & roughed em up a little bit.. i ended up spraying about 5 or 6 coats & they look really good!

Not to sound el-cheapo but I have white rims and decided at the last minute to paint my calipers red..to match the car..when I was touching up my rims.

used $2.99 spray paint from wal-mart 4 months ago...still looks red and decent...

My car is white so what color do you guys think would look best as far as the caliper goes? Red? Black? Blue, light or dark? Any ideas? Thanks guys!

I'd go red or blue...

Is there a "theme" that you are sticking with? F/e my car is windveil blue, so I'm keeping blue a theme...when I get a CAI, the filter is going to be blue, and anything else I can get that is blue will be blue...I'm even thinking about redoing the interior with a blue leather, and blue carpet. If I could get the shiny stuff around the a/c vents anodized blue I'd do it too, the only problem is I don't know where to get most of this done...

All the Navy talk...lol J/K

I have used paint before and I just did not care for it...But I would go with red...See if anyone in your local area does powdercoating...Powdercoating would give it the best finish...

is there a article somewhere on how exactly to paint your calipers from the take apart to bolting it back on because im interested in painting mine but i get very weary when it comes to doing anything to my brakes because their kind of important and the last thing i need is to fuck something up and them not work going 70 towards a wall lol
