Help - Dupli-Color Touch Up Good? If not, suggestions?

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has used this Dupli-Color touch up liquid before. See link below. Please offer any relevant feedback and if you've used another type of touch up that definitely works for chips/scratches please let me know. Thanks alot.

If you go to a Ford dealer and tell them you need touch up paint and give them your paint code....you can get it right from them. Its like 20 bucks i think.

this is best because it is factory match and comes with a nice pen applicator to fill in chips along with a brush.

noooo!

not always. very rarely does touch up paint come close ot matching. justy get a pint made up of your color and buy a cheap pin stripe kit form like sears/harbor freight and such. you'll have extra...if you seal it up nicely for future uses....touch up paint sucks. parts department guys will usually even tell you...mine will(i work at a chevy ddealer) that they dont work well and dont match well. i had touch up paint for amazon green...for my previous 00 v6 stang...it was terrible didnt match at all nor come close. i could tell...and i didnt apply it...the owner b4 me did. i could stand feet/yards away and see a blemish...get up closer and it looked hideous.

Im sorry, im not following you there... Pin Stripes as I know them are decaled lines normally down the side of the car. What does that have to do with touching up paint? I may just be dumb, dont know Lol.

Im intrested in this also. Got TONS of chips on my hood.. just gonna get a Cobra R hood anyways. However I got a few on my fenders and roof.

i'm sorry, i wasnt deatiled in the reason why that tool.
just get a small air brush tool...one for small areas whether it be for detailing, pinstriping whatever, do layers and nice even coats. it'll take some time, but should turn out nice. i have seen and had terrible experiences with touch up paint.

it'll save you from wasting money on touch up paint that is universal. they dont make more than 20 touch up paints. body shops mix the right amount of yellow blue and red together to get whatever color you have...red and black included. they'll use blue and red and get black...it's stupid but youd be surprised at how stupid ford/chevy etc are.

for example 1 quart of paint comes to 1 gallon of paint once reduced....so one has 1 gallon of paint to use. 1 pint of paint once reduced...don't know what it would be bfore in amount terms....would do a trunk imo, definitely a spoiler. that 1 gallon would do a new hood, new trunk, new front bumper, new wing and give enouhg paint to even blend all parts to the original/existing color. i'd have to say a pint of paint mixed and ready would be less than $50....i dont know cost because small amounts i get for free.

ultimately, one cannot go wrong if they get paint made to go with their paint code...its the best choice and allows for future use even.

even getting GM's exact brand doesnt work well...thats the point im trying to make...is one may think since they are ford or gm or bmw, shit is right or they have created somethign specific...not always..most cases no. they will do w.e. to make easy money.

example (off topic)

part x
dealer cost $50
employee cost $80
customer cost $120
trade cost(dealer to dealer etc.) $70

yes its that bad. we get catalytic assemblies for say $500...we mark it up to over $1000....for an express van. wtf. labor costs are the only cost that is legit at dealerships.

Assuming this car is old. Unless the body was perfectly upkept the paint still will not match. It has no doubt faded a bit.
