Installing Gauges.

I just got my reverse glow gauges and I was wondering about how long it will take to install? I already have the steps/walkthrough from AmericanMuscle.

Also, my gauges came as a whole white piece including the area where the turn signals & brights signals are and the bottom where the "check engine", bater and "theft" lights are. I just want the circle gauges to be white. Can I cut out those parts? Has anyone done it?

My gauges would look something like this (click larger image):

I want something like this (just the circles):

the bezel makes it so it looks like that. Those are most likely the same gauges. Just installed mine. If you want an idea of what it will look like installed, undo the two torx screws holding in the lens and bezel pull it off and hold it up to the gauges not yet installed. If you still don't like it, replace the gauges with something else.

+1 do not cut, if you want a reason why flip over the gauges and see on the back where the stuff to make them glow goes.

I already checked, the parts I'm thinking about cutting don't have any special glow "stuff". It's just like stock. I'll decide once I take off the stick gauges and see if it's possible. I'll let you all know how it goes. Not to mention they were only $20 on ebay including shipping and I just basically paid for 'em from tips at work so it's no biggie.

Has anyone had experience doing this?

give yourself time and leave off lens when you first install the gauges. Then drive and put the gauges where they should be. Take a pic of gauges with car off, car on accessory, and car running. It will take more than one try to get the needles right, mine are still a bit off, but then again my gas was off since i had the car. PITA but definitely looks good. I found a good place for the switch if you want a pic, dont know if our interiors are alike.

Thanks man. How do you take the lens off?

Yeah, that pic would be great! I have no idea where to put my switch.

I love the look for the white face guages, but I had a nightmare installing them in my last car (cavalier).

I was told I could just slip the new face over the needles, however when I tryed I could not get the guages over the needles because some were facing different angles and I would break the white face trying to bend it over them. I ended up having to take the needles off and sending my cluster to get recalabrated for $80.

I would love to get some for my Mustang, but the fear of going through that is scary. The BrothersPerformence ones seem to have a tool for removing the needles, but I am worryed about getting them in the right spots again

Well Zat, I had that problem with my Eclipse but I just kept on messing with it until I got it, all you have to do is turn the key over to ACC, dont start it, and take a pic with your cell or something, or just do it with a full tank of gas and the car cold, so you know where they go.

Cool. Thanks! But on the walk-through I got from american muscle, you take the lens off in one piece, did you do it a different way?

How to Install Mustang Gauge Inserts

Any other suggestions?

Once you have the gauges on,(I had to take off the old gauge and super glue the new one on) put the needles where they are in the first picture(car off). Install gauge cluster without lens(pic of lens being pulled off below)

and without the dash panel. Plug in gauge cluster, reconnect battery, and start car. Once your car is at its normal idle check to make sure the rpms are correct, if not readjust needle. Then check batt, oil, and fuel and adjust if necessary. This is the hardest part and should be done very carefully(i am not responsible if anyone wrecks their car). Drive on a 4 lane road, get a friend to drive along side of you and make sure your mph is correct. If it is not correct it.

The only problem i currently have is that my speedo is 5mph off(reads 50 when going 45) but I cannot put it any further down because when i turn off the car it pushes on the little pin that stops the needle.

Good luck and let me know how it goes. Will post switch pic later
