I am hoping that the OP isn't serious. Just sell your 01, buy a used +05 GT for 20k + 3k for GT500 kit/paint/install. I think all those conversion kits that change your year's style look...OFF. Although this thread did bring up a question I had:

Do you think it "poser" to have a GT500 front end (minus all the shelby badges) on a +05 GT that has an SC or turbo?

I ask, because it is a route I am thinking of doing after I get the Hellion Turbo on my 08 GT. I am not trying to imitate a GT500, I just really like the front end and spoiler but would get a different hood and leave off the badges. I don't agree with badging a car (saleen, shelby, roush, etc.) unless your car comes that way originally. But people who have saleen or roush body kits don't get crap, why should a GT with a GT500 kit?

BTW quick story, my buddy and I were driving down the freeway in his car (he just got a +05 GT roush stage 1) and we see another s197 mustang in front of us with a huge ass surfboard spoiler and racing stripes. We drive up closer to get a better look at it's single exhaust with GT emblems on the side?! We check the front and the v6 corral was there. Some young kid behind the wheel. We laugh and smile at him, as we catch his eye he quickly gets on the exit ramp.
