New Paint, How Long Before Wax?

ok, i wrecked my car in Feburary and got it back from the shop with fresh paint at the end of the month. I know I have to wait a while before I wax it, but this is killing me driving around with out any wax on it. how much longer do I need to wait?

There is no set time...one month is safe if in Arizona in July and three months if you are in NY in January. When you stop smelling the fresh paint then it is cured and ready for wax.

Do not ask us, ask the body shop. Mine said 6 months which is extremely long but if I did it before then they would void the warranty on it. I agree with zoo, I'm just saying to be safe ask them.

yea, when I picked u the car thee guy said "not for a while" I asked how long that was and he said "untill the paint is cured"... htey did decent work, I diddnt have to pay for it so I am happy witht hte car, but man I wish I had gotten a better answer. at one point he said spring... Oh well. I guess Ill wait some more. Just kills me that I am putting this many miles on it with no wax to protect the paint.

Clearcoat will protect a decent while. Do you honestly think new cars come with wax from the factory? But your right you should add to it. But until then keep up with washing the car as frequent as necessary, remember use a very mild diluted soap.
