Convertible Tint?

So I want to get my windows tinted, but I am crazy so if I do I will want to get ALL the glass on the car done for continuity's sake. I know its "illegal", but I really don't care too much. Before I got my mustang I test drove a car that had 10 all around and it was different but not annoying... My problem is that I have a convertible and I don't know if having tint on the windshield will make it impossible to see out of when the top is down. Does anyone have tint on their rag-top that can tell me about their experiences?

my friend has illegal tint and they have a machine that tells how dark his tint was...the tint read 0.3%....which if you think about it is just a piece of vinyl...and they still let him go..and his tint is 5% and they let him go so more hten likely you ll get 3 warnings before they take action

i have 5% all around Except for the windsheild, i just have a strip across the top of that, your not gonna wanna do your whole windsheild . . . its going to be a pain in the a$$ to see out at night just think, your only gonna see about 5% of what you should be able to see . . . . tints good, just dont reccomend the whole wind sheild.

Don't tint your windshield! you won't be able to see well at all. Find a friend with some tinted windows and ask him to take you for a ride at night. Then try looking out just the tinted windows and see how bad it is.

Yeah, I have tints on my windows, (all but windshield) i love the way it looks, (sorry, i don't know how dark they are, there were on when i got my car, but friends say that its pretty dark) but if i have to back up at night, it can be a real pain to see (luckily, i only have to look though my back glass if i'm backing into my driveway at night) (there is the fact that you don't have headlights behind you, lol, but i still say don't tint your winshield.)

Agreed, tinting your windshield is going to make it incredibly hard to see. I have 5% all the way around cept for the shield. It is hard enough to see at night through the sides, and sometimes I have to roll the windows down just to check. The sides and back are dark enough at 5% that it is very hard to see a person in the front seat through the windshield with out any tint. If you de decide to tint the windshield, I would go with something as light as you can, like a 50% or a 35% or something. The backs and the fronts will be dark enough that it will make the windshield look like it is that dark.

Get some sunglasses, or an old pair of glasses period and put some 5% or whatever you are planning on using on them. Put the top down, take a ride at night, and see what you think.

Thanks guys, but I know about all this already.
I will probably be getting 10%, and I know night is harder, but what I really wanted to find out was if I would be able to see through in the day with the top down...

I thought you wanted to know about night time. The day you will have no problem. It will be like wearing some sunglasses. It may take some getting used to as the sides would be completely clear while the front would be tinted....kinda the opposite of norm. Post pics after you do it.
