Headlight enclosure vs. HID kits

I need some help clarifying the whole headlights setup. First off, mine are stock headlights and foglights, but I'm looking for clear covers headlights and "brighter" bulbs. I see these "Euro Chrome" headlights on American Muscle(AM), which look like what I want, and AM let's you buy them with Luminics or Silverstar 9007 bulbs. AM also offers HID kits that also come with a 9007 bulb.

I'm confused, my questions are:
- Are 9007 bulbs HID bulbs?
- What temperature are they?
- Why does AM offer HID kits as well?
- What's the point of buying an expensive HID kit when you can buy a whole new headlight enclosure with "brighter" 9007 bulbs?

Any help clarifying for me would be greatly appreciated, even a link referring me to somewhere else I can read about it. I'm just lost on the whole subject. Thanks.

Haha well thanks, I agree they're awesome, but I was still confused on what to buy....I guess I'll by the headlights and foglights off AM with those Luminics bulbs and work from there. I guess I'll and figure it out as I go, which is the best way to learn new things in my book lol.

Ok, here is what ya need to know;
  • 9007 Bulbs are not HIDs. 9007 is the type of bulb that will fit into the housing.
  • 9007 bulbs are just regular temp bulbs (Luminics/Sliverstars are just a little brighter). HIDs come in 4300k (white) ,6000k (brighter white, slight hint of blue) ,8000k (White, with more blue that is noticeable) and 10000k (very vivid blue, I have this one).
  • AM offered HID kits aswell because a "Euro Chrome Housing" is not a bulb, thats the peice the lights set in and reflect from. HID kits replace your bulbs and give you the ballast/wiring to make them work.
  • The point of buying HIDs; "Brighter 9007 Bulbs" are exactly that. They are brighter... but HIDs are even brighter and a "HID Kit" does not come with a new "Housing"

This is an HID kit. You have the new 9007 "HID" Bulbs, Ballast to make them work (think flurescent lights ), and wiring to connect them to the car. Notice this is JUST the bulbs, an HID kit.

This is the "Euro Chrome Housing". Its simply a housing, you provide the blubs (reg 9007 or HID) to go in them.

Hope this helps ya.

Np man, I have been givin help and I try to return it.

Just be carefull on what kit ya buy. Ya, VVME has good prices but there shipping and customer service sucks. Plus the bulbs are huge and the High/Low beams are switched.
