what should i do about this?

i got the car a few months ago and the third brake light was like this when i got it. i assume it is because he put wax on it and wasn't supposed too.

do you think i should just take it out and tape the red part up and spray paint it?

If its wax dish soap should get it off, if not try a more harsh cleaner like goo gone or something. U sure its wax?

The sun ruins those lenses, you've got to replace it. You can buff it, but it wont ever be like new again.

try this man...i did it to my headlights and did it fast and skipped some steps and they turned out great...if you take the time and follow them all it should work pretty good! or you can just tint it..

you can take the lens off and clean it and buff it and reseal it really well, id personally just buy a new one, or just buy some really dark vinyl tint and put it over it. prob wont notice it at all then. stangmods.com makes a black out option, brake light still shines thru it nice and bright thu.

Detailing Gurus: 99-04 Mustang Brake Light Restoration

Wetsand. I, like every single other mustang owner without a spoiler who doesn't have 100% garage storage capabilities have this problem. I Attempted to buff it out with a buffwheel on a bench grinder, it helped, but didn't solve the problem. Wetsanding and some patience should work, but it's somethin you can probably only do once since it thins the material.
