Another project to eventually tie in w/ my subs/trunk

Howdy!

I'm POSITIVE that the following mod is not going to suit everyone's taste...but I figured I would post the pictures anyway. I bought a led kit in order to bring some lights into the car. My next step is to place some in the trunk so that I can tie both together with my rear seat cutout. Just a fun little project till I get my exhaust...
They are 7 color LED kits, which have a range in colors & some fun patterns. I can also get them to go w/ my music or choose one color for it to stay solid.

For some reasons I had a hard time getting a picture that WASN'T blurry!

Nice man, where did you get them from?

I have plans to buy a kit myself from LedGlow Led UnderGlow Kits and LED Automotive Lighting

Thanks guys...much nicer mods on the way, just something to keep me busy

Thats exactly where I got them from...lol.

Pros: Inexpensive...

Cons: They come prewired...so it doesn't give you much room to finagle anything. They also don't have a damn memory(if you get the 7 color)...so every time I turn them on, I have to find blue...or whatever color I want.

yeah, like I was saying, it sucks that the kit is pre-wired and that it doesn't have a memory(if you buy the 7 color)...but overall for $35 it's not bad at all!

lmao, I never have to worry about bringing money for tolls! It's also very rare for me to have one drink in my car...nevermind two, so it works out in the end. Also adds some weight to the center of gravity

Those are nice man
I've got a neon underbody kit (which ran me $140) but I love it.
I've been thinking about getting some in the car (like your setup) and also some in the trunk to highlight my subs. Heck, for $35 I might just have to check into that kit. lol.

Btw, I've thought about putting some under the hood to, but after thinking about it I thought it might get to hot under there for the tube, does anyone know? I've seen it on one car in a mag once, but it could have only been for show.

They sell engine LED kits...would I trust them...prob not. You would have to keep your engine bay clean, or else the lights would show off a bunch of crap. lol. I gotta find a kit to put in my trunk now...I think 4 LED strips is a bit much for that area. I do like the neon as I mentioned to you before. I would be too paranoid of cops though!

I'll check into them, but i'm still skeptical. lol... and its ok b/c my engine was SUPER clean when I got it, and I'm determined to always keep it that way, (so far so good!) lol. (It was a little dirty in that pic, but I've cleaned it since then )

lol, true, but i live in a small town, we have one cop, who i know. (in fact, I had to call him once, shortly after I got my stang, I locked the key in it lol!) but he doesn't car about the neon or my subs. He won't do anything unless someone complains to him about it Its when I go other places that I keep an eye out for em and my hand on the switch! lol.

I was looking on that site, and they have the interior kit thats expandable for up to another 2 tube (6 total) I was thinking about getting that, and just running the extra 2 to the trunk.

Another idea that I will be looking more into, and something you might like, is to put a switch in the truck to where they are only on when the trunk is open (unless your going to be showing urs off behind your cutout, lol) It should work like the light that already comes on when you open your trunk, although I will take that bulb out so it doesn't get in the way of showing off the led's. lol

Damn that really is clean. lol.

As for the expandable kit, I believe the extra 2 tubes will connect to the controller like the other 4. If this is the case, you would need to put that controller in your center console to stand a chance of stretching the last two to the trunk. 6 feet of wire really is not much when you start running it along the trim.

As for your idea with the trunk LED. I was thinking about running a strip of blue or red led's along the trim Juuuuust so its not noticeable. When the trunk opens it would go on. Then possibly add a few led's to accent the subs & amp. I would also like a switch to keep them on & shown through my cutout as well.

this is something that i would want to do too. how hard was the wiring? is it like underbody where you have a central hub that you connect them all to and then run that to the battery?

where did you put the switch?

i put the switch for my underbody kit on the far right in the picture

how did mount them?

and that sucks neons are illegal in your area, its so nice not having to worry about cops pulling you over for them

I don't know about archy, but after doing some research, I think they are legal in my area, lmao. But I'm not sure about my colour. I heard that red and blue are illegal everywhere b/c of their use on emergency vehicles. But I don't know if that applies for MO... I'm going to call the police department and ask them sometime.

Thats the same place I mounted my switch! lol, only I think yours turned out a little cleaner than mine, lol. (the one in the middle is to my amp for my subs, the one on the right is to the neon.)

lol, Thanks

Ahh, I see.... So the wires are already connected to the controller? If not, they you can just connect some more wire about the same gauge? and even if they are already connected, could you cut them, and then add more wire that way? just a guess.
The underbody kit I bought came with some extra wire that you could attach if it wasn't long enough, thats why I thought that.

Sounds like a nice setup for your truck keep me posted with how it goes would ya?

did you take the traction control out?

and red and blue are only illegal for me if they are flashing. which mine are not so red is okay and so is blue.

Sweet, hope its the same way here. if not, lets hope that the cop is understanding, lol.
and no, I never had a button there. the only one I had was for the rear defrost. I knew that there could be two others, but I didn't have them and I couldn't ever remember them, lol. guess its for foglights and trac control?
