headlights have yellow film

My car was originally a florida car, but I bought it up here in wisconsin. The headlights have a yellow film on them, looks almost like an overspray from wax, but it seems like the plastic is melted or damaged. Much of this clears up when the plastic is wet.

PS it's a 2000 mustang, which has the plastic sealed lamp units. I'm not thrilled about but 2 new ones at $200+ each.

any suggestions on how to remove that yellowing?

I could use some new ones for my 95 GT they are still good, but since I put the euro clear corners on, it makes the headlights look old. Now I need to get new headlights over the winter.

k, this may seem completely rediculous, but my show car is a 1990 Buick reatta, you may know that its just 1 huge tail light all the way across (1 piece) it has a haze to it, but i just put a little baby oil on a rag and wipe down the tail light. Works wonders, u might want to try it, it works great for me =)
