What tire size to go with 18" rim?

Im going to be getting new tires soon and i cant make a decision on what size to get exactly. im stuck between 245/40/zr18's or 245/45/zr18's.

Heres a few pics of my rims, what do you think would look best with my model year stang? Their 215/35/r18's on it now so ya know, entirely too small i know but i didnt put em on their. please help, my rims are like begging for more rubber, i dont even know how whats on their is considered a tire.

i think i have 255/45 on my 17's but i'm not sure! if i was your i would go with a taller profile, that way it fills up the fender wells, you should also get some 1 1/4" spacers for the rear, i have 1 1/4, and it looks badd A$$!

See im not sure what the width is..im going to take it to a a tire place and pretend like im interested in buying tires so i can figure out how big a tire i can go width wise and what would look good.

And i actually already have wheel spacers if you look at the last picture. The pic in my signature though was before i had em though if thats the one you were lookin at. i cant recall if they were 1" or 1 1/4 or 1 1/2. lol i couldnt make up my mind when i first got em and that was awhile ago..now i cant remember.
