Automatic shifter bezel...how to remove?

Howdy gang,
I'm looking to replace the LED's in my 02 v6 auto. I'd like the interior to glow a nice shade of red vs the OEM green. I've figured out how to replace the color in the gauge cluster & hvac...but I need to figure out the shifter bezel.

How the hell do we remove this??? I can pull up a bit on the ride side...& it looks like the left side has 2 screws possibly holding it together. From what I can tell I need to remove the ENTIRE center console. Am I missing something?

I heard that I have to remove the center console in order to get at TWO screws holding the bezel in. Im thinking about installing a Car PC, with possibly the 94-98 center console...so the shifter bezel might come out @ that time. Unless I get motivated and rip everything apart now.

My stock color...gray. However, if the price is right...I guess I can always paint it

I haven't started it yet. It took me forever to get an answer on the actual shifter bezel. Now I have to decide if I am going to hack apart the stock cluster or find a spare. By the time i finish my projects, I'll have an entire garage of spare parts. lol

on your shift handle there are 2 screws, unscrew them and take the knob off then just slide it off

Did you manage to get those two screws out without having to remove the entire center console? Seems to bit a really tight fit
