if you take it to a shop that knows what they are doing you can get the flames powdercoated, but that might cost you some good money cause they are gonna have to bake it twice

Are you talking about all powder coated flames?

I dont think you can do that. You can get a base powdercoat and semi bake it it and while its still "wet" you can spray flames on it with basecoat and let the basecoat dry and then apply clear powdercoat and then finish baking it.

But ive never heard of a way to make actual powder coat flames where you have a powder coat base with another color of powdercoat in flames. Have you seen this done?

If you want the cai to have flames on it, i would really recomend getting it painted with automotive paint.

I used heat tolerant paint from pepboys about 6 months ago and still no problems. It really is all in the prep. I am going to spray the valve colors blue as well myself. The Supercgarger I will have powder-coated blue because there are too many nicks and crannies for the paint to build up and possibly chip and I will have it off anyway to be ported.

Do you think there is any way I could do the powdercoating myself?

You could do it, its not that hard. You could get a hot coat gun and an oven and do it yourself if you want to, and after you do your stuff you can do your friends and make a little cash.

Eastwood HotCoat Powder Coating Equipment: Guns, Gear, Powder & Prep

Just keep in mind you have to get everytthing to bare metal before you do it or the powder wont stick. I think i remeber some coatin on your plenum? After you get to bare metal you will hang it up, wipe it down with degreaser/cleaner, get the gun ready, ground the part. Then spray the powder on the part, it will stick because the powder is positivley charged and the part is grounded, so just a nice even good coat. Then put it in an oven that can go to 400 degrees for about twenty minutes.

Do you think it would be worth it to buy a gun though?

if all you plan on doing is those two pieces, then i would say no. You would need to do hundreds of dollars worth of powdercoating stuff to make it a better idea than having someone else do it.

That's what I was thinking. What are some other things that I could powdercoat? I could get the gun and just go crazy.

mellow. do you have an Airborn coating company near you? we have one here is oklahoma. they are by far the best i have used.

oh and dont worry about the flames. they can be done. a lot of the more flashy powdercoat colors you see are multiple layeres. each one is hard baked before the next coat.

+1 for powdercoat but not black. it will absorbe all your engine heat and defeat the purpose of the CIA.

There's some place in fort worth but I can't remember the name. They want me to get it sandblasted before I bring it there so the place can't be that great.
