Tinted my Tails

I finally tinted my tail lights. To remain legal in Indiana, I need to have at least 1 brake light that visible from 500 feet away and at least two red reflectors. Also, I wanted to keep my backup lights clear b/c I use them every day. So I decided on this design for my tail lights (keeps the reflectors visible and backup light clear). This was done with VHT Nightshades and some rattle can clearcoat.

ORIGINAL PHOTOSHOP (not part of project):

Taped and ready for prep sanding

Painted and ready for sanding the clear coat.

Finished product (with flash).

While in the garage.

lOOKS GOOD & GREAT THOUGHT ON TAPING OFF PART TO NOT BE TINTED!!! i MAY JUST KEEP MY BLACKOUT PANEL AFTER ALL

I'll try to type up a "how to" later tonight or tomorrow. It's REALLY easy if you take your time (it took me 3 days), do good prep work, and do light coats of paint.

I should have taped over my backup lights in hindsight, they are pretty much useless for me in the dark now lol. Looks good!

P.S. I see you're from Indiana, what area?

yeah i'm curious too... you've got a bloomington ford sticker, but you've got purdue on the plate.. that's not right

The "Bloomington Ford" sticker is no longer on the car. That was a picture I took awhile ago, it's not on there in the new pictures. I do live in Bloomington.

I graduated from Purdue last year and got a job at a Navy base 25 miles south of Bloomington. Purdue fan by choice, Bloomington native by force.

BTW, does anyone know if the GT and/or Ford emblems on the trunk is stuck through it (like the ones on the fender)? I would like to remove them but don't want holes.
