New Hood Scoop

Just bought this of ebay... For the price I couldn't pass it up. I've been looking for the gt style scoop for a while and I couldn't find anything cheaper than like 150. And this is already painted. What do you guys think?

im pretty sure thats the one i got.. and if it is, im sorry... it comes with 4 bolts, no front grill and it doesnt fit where its supose to go bc of the bolts. BUT if you know what your doing you can get it on and it will look awsome. just take your time. but i made my scoop functional and put a mesh grill underneath the hood to keep debris out of it. post pics when you got it on!

I saw your post about your scoop a while back. It looked good. What did you have to do to get it to work?

well my brother and i installed it. and we had to put it up a lil too close to the front ( about an inch give or take from where its supose to go.. ) the screws r too small and misplaces so if you would put the where the scoop lines up with the hood indentaion, you will be able to see the screws if you look in the scoop since it dont come with an insert. Also dont let ppl tell you it will fly off. it wont. back when i put it on we had some left over hurrican weather and we had atleast 60 MPH winds, and i was driving home ( another 60 MPH ) and it didnt fly off. last thing, you will have to cut the hell out of the underneath of your hood bc theres no place for the screws. just take your time and youll be fine.

what im going to do is move it back, and get the insert and put it on so it lines up and you wont be able to see the screws, mines functional so im going to drill out the holes in the insert.

heres some pics:

sorry for the long post, this is the only thing i can really help out ppl with bc ive been through it all lol. hope i helped a lil.

Thats a nice find, but its not already painted it just has a black gel coat. Which yes is kinda like paint, but its not really paint. Its what is on the outside of fiberglass boats. It is the first layer in fiberglass molding.

weelll now this has got me worried... will i have to paint it, or will the black get coat match closely to the black color of my car? also, i'll probably end up asking for a billet insert for christmas

its not really that bad. just just have to line it up to where you want it... and you will have to cut out some of the underneath of the hood. you can make it look real nice too buy using a small hand saw. so its not that bad.

I don't know, you will have to wait till you get it and see.

It might match and it might not, there are alot of different "colors" of black out there.

But im sure the texture will not match because your car will have clearcoat and the scoop has a gelcoat.

Use it as a mold to make a carbon fiber hood scoop
