Euro Side Blinkers

I've been thinking about debadging my '03 GT and putting some euro side blinkers where the GT badges are now. I heard someone did it with some BMW side blinkers. Does anyone have a picture of this? I'd like to see if it looks good or like a$$!!!

it is pure rice, don't do it, it's even worse than the mirrors with the blinkers in them

LOL! I dunno! It might look kind of cool if the lights aren't too big! I was thinking some clear ones so that they don't detract too much especially for my color(Silver)! OR...tinted ones about the size of the Ford badge.

the rice term is thrown around way to much imo.

If you can find some small ones that look good there, and doesnt draw to much atention i say go for it if you like em.

Thank you for at least keeping an open mind and, I agree, the rice term is thrown around WAAAYY to much. It seems like if you can't buy it from American Muscle it's rice!

I was thinking the side markers from a Chevy Aveo might look kind of cool. I heard that someone used some BMW sidemarkers but those just seem too big. As I stated before, I wanted to debadge the car but I don't want to have an open hole in the fender so I figured this might be kind of cool AND an added safety feature.

Just found some small clear ones! I measured the GT badge and these are smaller than the GT badge. GT badge is 4" from G to end of the top of the T. 3 1/2" from G to the upright of the T. I stuck my hand into the fenderwell(I pulled out the wheel inner well lining previous) and felt where the badge is. I figured it would be 2 little prongs but it felt like one that was centered and about 3/8" big. Can someone confirm this? I'll try and pull the actual badges off but it would be cool to know what to expect. I'll probably have to drill the hole a little bigger if it is 3/8". The side markers will require a 3/4" hole and are 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" so it's actually smaller than the GT badge! Also, the lights have wood screws to attach that I'll have to change out for nuts and bolts.

Now I just need to figure out which wires go to the blinkers and splice them in. It has 2 wires coming out the back. ONe black one white. Any suggestions or instructions on how to wire this?

John

Yes there is bigger like you said about 3/8s hole in the center that has a divet i guess you could say leading to it, and then a smaller one. about 1/4 next to it a little off center from that one.

OK....I found the wiring diagram. Can someone tell me which of the colored wires I need to splice into? I don't want them to light up when I turn on the running or headlights. I want them to only blink when the blinker is turned on.

Close up of, what I assume, is the area that I need to be concerned with

On the schematic I have it shows 3 wires going to each of the turn signals in the headlights. Left front is Black-Light Green/White-Brown and Right front is Black-Light Blue/White-Brown.
I can't read schematics very well but from what I could tell it looks like the black wire is ground and, for the left front the light green/white wire is power and on the left the light blue/white is power. Are these the wires I need to connect to?
The brown seems to be the wire that ties the front to the back on both sides. Is this correct?

John

hmmmm now those just made me throw up a little. i think if you really want to do something cool i'd say get some of those rectangle ford racing badges that have the clear plastic covering the logo. drill a couple small holes through the back for some LED's and then do a nice custom job. the LED's will light up the entire badge but will still give you the actual ford racing logo on the side of your car. i never thought of this till i read this thread, but now that i did hmmmmm maybe. too bad i'm in iraq and can't try it. maybe i'll order all the needed items for when i get home i can do a mach up to see how it would look.

Hahaha! Glad I at least got you thinking of it as a possiblity! I like your idea and was thinking of the same thing. I was thinking of getting some oval blinkers(Chevy Aveo) and overlaying a vinyl cut out in the Ford logo. That way the logo would be blinking but wouldn't that be considered kinda ricey? LOL!(Not that I really care mind you!) The ones pictured were given to me to try out(I promised that if it worked out I would plug them! LOL!) If it works out, like I think it will, I'll probably change it out for the oval/Ford Vinyl overlay thing so that it looks like the original badge but with a twist!

Do you have a picture of these rectangular Ford Badges? The only ones I know of are the solid, oval blue ones I have on my GT.

John
