For the first time ever, new Mustangs will come equipped with automatic dimming mirrors courtesy of the Gentex Corporation. The auto-dimming mirrors are said to automagically darken to reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become. This should make nighttime driving safer, as there are few things more annoying than a driver behind you with their brights on.

The Gentex mirrors are also fitted with a digital compass, and maybe other features that have yet to be released. As of now, we can only confirm that Gentex has been shipping these mirrors to Ford. These mirrors will be available as part of a Comfort Package on the Deluxe and Premium edition 2007 Mustangs.

“The Mustang has been a part of America’s heritage for over 40 years, yet this is a new program for Gentex, so we’re excited to be included on the 2007 version as the legend continues,” said Gentex Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Enoch Jen. Gentex provides approximately 95% of the world’s automakers with electronic mirrors.

New innovative features such as Maximum Team Control Racing separate this game from the pack, allowing a user to switch-on-the-fly between a team of three vehicles to dominate a race! New features, hot cars, and a price of $19.99 make Ford Bold Moves Street Racing redefine what it means to be a great value.

The Ford Bold Moves Street Racing game will be made available on the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. In the UK, Empire Interactive is also working on an upgraded PSP version of the game called Ford Street Racing – L.A. Duel, but Eidos hasn’t announced whether it will bring that game over yet. The full list of cars slated for Ford Bold Moves Street Racing is as follows:

Does your idle rise and fall over and over again? Does your ‘Stang stall when you come to a stop, or even when you put it in gear? It guess it’s time for a new IAC (idle air control, or as it’s sometimes called, idle air bypass)… or is it?

Fuel injected Mustangs use a small motor/valve assembly that allows a certain amount of air to bypass the throttle plate, entering the engine to control idle. As mileage increases dirt, air filter oil, and carbon build-up will take it’s toll and often cause idle surging and stalling. This can happen as early as 30,000 miles depending on conditions (K&N’s really speed up the process). Why replace it when you can clean it?

What’s Needed

8mm or 5/16 socket and ratchet

1 can of throttle body cleaner

Locate the IAC Valve

On 5.0L Fox body cars the IAC is bolted to the side of the throttle body.

On 4.6L DOHC and SOHC engines the IAC is located on the upper intake manifold.

Removing the IAC

This part, like the rest of the steps in this article, is simple. The IAC (B) has an electrical plug that needs to be disconnected (C) Then all you have to do is remove the two 8mm-5/16″ bolts (A) that hold the IAC to the throttle body or intake. Watch out for the IAC motor to throttle body gasket, don’t lose it!

Cleaning the IAC

Next all you do is use the throttle body cleaner to clean carbon out of both of the holes (C) in the IAC valve and both of the holes in the intake/throttle body.

Putting it back together

Yet another self explanatory step. Put the IAC in place and install/tighten the 8mm bolts. Make sure you don’t forget to reinstall the gasket.

Start the Engine

Finally you need to start your Mustang and let it run for a few minutes to burn any leftover throttle body cleaner in the intake. Now your pony will idle better and this should solve stalling issues in many cases.

OBDII, California’s second generation of OBD requirements, is a diagnostic system incorporated into the vehicle’s powertrain computer that is designed to assist in pollution reduction and prevention. The OBDII system monitors virtually every component and system that can affect emissions during normal driving, alerting the driver through a dashboard malfunction indicator light (MIL) and storing fault code information for technicians.

Manufacturers can only use the MIL for indication of emission related faults, and not for maintenance reminders, mileage intervals, or any other non-emission-related items. Generally, the OBDII system is required to illuminate the MIL after the same fault has been found in two different driving cycles, which helps to ovoid MIL illumination for random faults or abnormal conditions. The MIL is only allowed to extinguish when the same fault has not been detected on three successive driving cycles. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) remain stored for around 40 driving cycles to make sure that information is still available to repair technicians even after the MIL is extinguished.

Below you will find links to meanings of the various trouble codes, both for Ford and other vehicles equipped with the second generation of On Board Diagnostic systems.
