Surely a sign of the looming apocalypse, AmericanMuscle.com recently went under the bright lights, and behind the scenes of a nationally broadcast TV show, SPEED TV’s hit game show Pass Time. Filmed on location at many of America’s favorite grass roots drag strips, Pass Time offers a chance for any would-be drag racer, whether first timer or experienced pro, Mustang or minivan, to make a run pass as two contestants attempt to predict 1/4-mile drag times to win cash. Simply put, “Guess the time, win the cash – it’s that easy,” according to show host Brett Wagner.

As the current owner of three Ponies, AmericanMuscle.com on-the-phone Mustang expert Karen Baum is no stranger to the track. In fact, she’s been drag racing Mustangs for years, but never before in front of the cameras of a popular TV show. Karen, and fellow AmericanMuscle staffer Dave Kaeck, took their Mustangs to Maryland International Raceway where Pass Time producers selected the AmericanMuscle customer service rep out of 500 candidates to “make a pass” on camera. Driving an AmericanMuscle-prepped ‘03 GT Coupe, the Mustang enthusiast put the pedal to the metal and left all expectations in the dust in her first primetime appearance.

While Karen was getting ready for her SPEED TV debut, AmericanMuscle went behind the scenes to get a first-hand look at how Pass Time producers can turn a day at the drag strip into an engaging game show. From the host Brett Wagner, to Ken “The House” Herring, to Paige the ultra-hot car wrangler, these on-air personalities form the heart of the show. Add in two long days of passionate behind-the-scenes work and somehow the dedicated Pass Time team manages to turn out nine speed-filled episodes every time they pull into a drag strip.

There are plenty of mustang boards on the net now-a-days.  There are loads and loads of information all over these boards.  So why do members choose one over another?  What seperates Modded Mustangs from the rest of the mustang boards on the net today?  All you have to do is make one post to find out why.  The answer is our members.  I can honestly say that we have the best members on any forum on the internet today.  I can also honestly say that I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding community.

Recently, one of our great members, BWAL aka Bubba was diagnosed with cancer.  You can read about it HERE.  This took a devastating toll on the community as a whole, but you can only imagine what it has done to Bubba.  But Bubba has shown no sign of weakness whatsoever.  There is no doubt in my mind that his mental strength will pull him through any endeavor that he will ever encounter, including this one.  Bubba keeps the entire community in tears with laughter in every section.  I know there has been many many times that I could not even play my xbox game because he had us all rolling during one of our MM Xbox live sessions.  Bubba keeps this community turning.

So you can also imagine what kind of shock this news put us in.  We were all devastated.  Although Bubba never asked for anything, and continued to tell us that there was nothing that he wanted besides support, we banded together and helped out one of our own.  Tiller and KingChronic setup a donation fund that was meant to buy him something that he would love.  The thread can be found HERE.  Although we fell short of our goal, we still managed to raise some money for him.  You could not read one thread without seeing “Unite For Bubba” in everyones signature.   It really showed how a car forum could come together for one of their own.  Also, a photography contest was setup so that all of the proceeds went to the Bubba Fund, you can read about the contest HERE.  With the help of our many photographers of the forum, and even a few that were not photographers, but just wanted to contribute, we managed to scrape up some more money for BWAL.

I know I speak for many, many members of this forum when I say thank you everyone.  I know I am proud to be a member of this community, and will continue to do so until I am unable.  You guys have inspired me, and showed me what friendship is about.  Bubba, we know you’re gonna be ok man, and you already know that every single one of us is here for you if you need anything.  I didn’t include the picture in here for your sake, but we all know that you my friend, still get bitches :).

Steve Saleen to the rescue!

That’s right, Steve Saleen, the former owner of Mustang-tuner and manufacturer Saleen Inc. has announced that his new company SMS Supercars will honor the warranty on any Saleen product purchased before February 2nd, 2009. Now that’s standing behind your product!

“The ones who have been left out in the cold are the loyal customers of Saleen products,” said Steve Saleen in a statement. “While my new company, SMS Supercars, has no legal or moral obligation to take up any of the warranty claims against Saleen Inc. or MJ Acquisitions, Inc., I would like to make a bold statement on the right way to treat customers.”

The news comes roughly a month after Saleen Inc.’s new owner, MJ Acquisitions, announced that it would not support the warranties on Saleen vehicles and parts sold before the Feb. 2nd date.

We predicted in that story that the new Saleen Inc., wouldn’t be long for this world and that prophesy seems to be playing out. First MJ Acquisitions scared off all it’s customers (and infuriated the Mustang community) and now Steve Saleen has made a move that will likely see all current Saleen product owners driving their American muscle straight into his open arms.

The first aftermarket 2010 Mustang was revealed by Roush yesterday morning, beating Saleen and SMS to the public eye.  Roush claims to have already sold out the the first two months of production.

Most of the modifications are pretty subtle,  with slight tweaks to the rear end and most of the work being on the front end.  The front fascia of this new design is being dubbed the “Shark Nose” with a sharper middle point and much more aggressive styling than in the previous years.

The target performance for the 427r is mid 12’s and a low 4 sec 0-60 with a 1.0g on the skidpad.  It plans to do this by making 435hp (Net Sae) with the RoushCharger and the stage 3 Roush suspension. But enough talking here is a list of modifications.

MM: Your car,  what is it?

Omz: My car is a 1997 V6 mustang,  it has 157k miles on it and is a total PIECE!

MM: Would you rather a supercharger,  125 shot or Saleen body kit?

Omz: Seeing as my car would implode on a 125 shot,  i’ll do that! … Unless the body kit came with a new paint job.  My car could use a fresh paint of coat,  BUT doing the M112 swap that is often inquired about in the V6 section would be pretty gnarly too.  Hmm, 125 shot!

MM: What is the best aspect of being a mustang owner?

Omz: The best aspect of owning a mustang?  Its recognizable by almost everyone,  and is extremely impressionable on young children.  I don’t live in the biggest of cities and often find my self driving by middle schools where every kid just stares as I go by.

MM: Who is the most likeable guy on the forum?

Omz: Their are a number of people that stand out in my mind,  and oddly enough they are our female mustang enthusiasts,  everyone likes them… dunno why

MM: Who is going to the next victim of your rampage of rage?

Omz: I like to think that those days are behind me,  but if I get a chance,  I would love to take down Derrick.

MM: Are you jealous of Drgnracn72’s relationship with Bwal09?

Omz: I am! Stephen knows that I claimed Bubba months before he did so he can just back the f*** off.

MM: You once ate 3 hot dogs, in retrospect does that now seem like “weaksauce”?

Omz: Yes sir,  compared to my 20 McNugget and a McDouble cheese burger quest that I accomplished not once,  but twice.
MM: What is the best Mustang ever produced?

Omz: 1969 Boss 302, no question about it, and if its yellow, bonus points.

MM: Have you ever wondered who would win if Acmillr and Unzippee Squared off UFC style?

Omz: I think that Acmillr is rather intimidating, but Rick is a bad a$$. Rick would dominate in my opinion.

MM: I think Jasonic should develop a donut scented candle,  do you agree?

Omz: I would buy a dozen,  no doubt,  in a heart beat.  Then I think I would rub the hot wax all over my body.
MM: You like to take a lot pictures,  what or who,  got you into photography?

Omz: My friend Brandon did.  He showed up at my house last summer late one night with this massive camera he “borrowed” from school and said “check this s*** out!”  I was hooked from then on.

MM: What is the best picture you ever took?

Omz: I’m not to sure.  either one of these two.
but keep in mind i’m just an amateur photographer that shoots for fun,  and more so I find my self usually taking pictures during the winter when the environment is optimal or anything.  Ask me this one again this summer and I will find you a better one.  Or you can go through the APAD thread and just see some of mine and other photo’s on this site.

MM: If under the threat that your car would be painted pink and yellow if you did not pick one,  which would you choose the “bannana lamma” airbrushed along your driver side door or a big freaking vinyl of a running pony?

Omz: Banana Llama,  only if its upside down.  but I would prefer it to be on the hood and really large like.

MM:  The Barricade,  care to tell us how you acquired it?

Mickey:  I acquired the car in March of 2007.  How it all started was when I saw my first S197 Saleen in November of 06,  I thought I had died and gone to heaven when it roared by me.  I told all my friends and family I would buy one soon enough.  Parents refused to take me seriously but they had not realized how much money I had saved for a down payment.  I surprised everyone by getting the money for a down payment and took the plunge on a used Saleen 3V.  Black,  of course,  like the first one I had seen

MM:  Did you ever wish you could take it back?

Mickey:  What kind of question is that…**** no.

MM:  You made approximately eight threads concerning cams and your car.  Is it fair to say you’re excited about the new performance?

Mickey:  Come by and I will take you for a ride…should answer the question for you…

MM: You have started only 88 threads,  which does not put you in the top 100 for thread starters and your 2,847 posts don’t qualify you for the top 50 (Your 61st in posts) in posts either.  However you are 18th on this site in rep points…..What’s your secret?

Mickey:  Secret?  I don’t think I have one,  I just make random smartass comments and I guess some people think they are funny.  I guess it helps?

MM:  The Gentleman’s Club,  Who will never be allowed in?

Mickey:  Dude I have no idea what the gentlemen’s club is.  I got a PM the other day with the password but still don’t know what the heck it is.

MM:  If the Zippee and 06RedfireGt got into a carrot wielding sword fight, who would win?

Mickey:  They would tie of course…they will call truce once they both had their mouths on each others carrots.

MM:  If you could trade cars with anyone on this forum whom would you trade with?

Mickey:  I don’t want to sound cocky,  but there is no one else’s car on this forum I would rather have.  I love my car too much.  I am definitely envious of some the track times and power numbers these cars are making,  but that aspect will just take me a little time…

MM: Which is faster an 03 Cobra vert……or umm your car?

Mickey : If the vert termi was stock,  I think I would pull a little…if not,  well I would get pulled

MM:  Where are the finest girls in the world?

Mickey:  Haven’t been everywhere yet,  but I would definitely have to say Texas so far.

MM:  If your car were a woman and Emay’s car were a woman,  whom would they resemble and which one would be better looking?

Mickey:  If my car were a woman.  I would have to say it would be Beyonce,  mostly black with a little white in there and she is an attention whore.  Emay’s car as a women?  Umm, maybe some really hot black girl,  but I don’t know…As far as being hotter,  I think they would want to do each other because they are both so hot

MM:  Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Mickey:  About me…well,  I am 20 years old and I attend the University of San Diego.  I am double majoring in Marketing and Accountancy.  I love mustangs and I love people who love mustangs.  I have always had a passion for cars since I can remember.  I plan on keeping my car for life and am very anxious to see what she grows into….

Car: Most likely a 96 GT

MM: So how did you end up at MM?

MustangMatt96GT: I honestly don’t remember the details. But about a week after I purchased the car I wanted to learn more about it. Turns out everyday after school, as I had no job, I would end up coming here. And so one day I decided to register, and I have learned so much about my car. I have my third major build of the car coming up this winter. (The Beast Part 3)

MM: Ever regret hitting the register button?

MustangMatt96GT: The only times I have regretted registering have been when I have been on here when I should be doing my homework… But other than that this is the place to be. I am always on at school too, iPod Touch FTW!

MM: When will you car be fast enough?

MustangMatt96GT: My car will never be fast enough… About 4 months after I got the car, I told my buddy Jeff at school that I would have a 12 second car by the time I graduate. Turns out I did not think about the altitude and thought it was a mid 14 second car stock… Boy I was wrong.

New goal for next season is 11.50s or better. Going to need a cage to go faster. Although my Mom told me I could not go any faster than I was doing this year… I can’t wait for her to see me do pull the tires for the first 60 foot and run in the 11s.

Eventually I will want a low 9 second Stang at this altitude, but I have lots of time and things to learn between now and then.

MM: A hot date (And the night is already paid for) or a night installing a Paxton Supercharger?

MustangMatt96GT: Honestly this one is a tough one. But who cannot turn down a great time installing anything in any car… How bout we have a Hot Date in the garage installing a Paxton Supercharger, although we all know Nitrous Rules!!

MM: For obvious reasons this next question must be asked, who would look better in a dress FutureMach1Racer or Acmillr?

MustangMatt96GT: Never seen a full body picture of Jake, but I think we already have seen AC in a dress, so i’m going to say Jake.

MM: In sub 32 degree weather, Mountain Dew or Hot chocolate?

MustangMatt96GT: The only way to go! Mountain Dew… Dew Run Racing, is what I have named the “team” of my buddies that help with the car at home and at the track. Because of all the Mountain Dew that is drank when around the car! We should get sponsored by them….

MM: When did you 1st want a mustang and when did it become a reality?

MustangMatt96GT: As a young kid I grew up with my Dad’s 64 Stang. Infact the first night we had it I slept in it. I was 3 at the time. But I grew up around it and always thought they were cool. Then I kinda grew out of them and what’s the point of a “cool” car? But slowly as I got closer to driving age I got more and more interested. Dad and I debated on going to the Phil Long Ford Fest at the track one year. And as soon as I saw all the fox bodies running I was hooked. Originally I wanted a fox. Turns out after looking at a few, I preferred the SN95s a lot more.

After two cars falling through, I bought half my 1996 Mustang GT with all my money I earned from mowing lawns through the years.

MM: If you could do it all over would the ‘Stang still be your 1st car?

MustangMatt96GT: No… Unfortunately I cannot control my addiction. My car no longer is even driven on the street but to go to and from the track. I now drive my Mom’s Expedition daily. I would try and get a truck, preferably a diesel work truck as my first “car”

MM: Who has helped you out the most here as far as tech?

MustangMatt96GT: Honestly I wouldm’y be anywhere without the help of many. Boomer has always been there for when ever I have a question, be an engine question, suspension question, or a track question. He has always supported me. I would be know where without him.  Also John (Ujslost) has helped me tremendously. He also was always ready on the phone to help me out.  And has taught me many valuable things.  And finally Mike (SWEET2KSTANG) has answered numerous threads and PMs.

MM: Who has helped the most outside of tech?

MustangMatt96GT: Honestly the whole MM family has helped out. There is always support from everybody. There are the few guys that “flame” everybody else, but what family does not have arguments?

MM: If you could give anyone on this forum any car, who would it be and what car would you give them?

MustangMatt96GT: I really don’t know who, but it would be a Mustang for sure, because that’s what we all are here for.

That’s right there’s a new hood for you S197 guys. Hillbank Motorsports is bringing a hood with a glass window to the mustang world. Much like the the new Corvette ZR-1’s window hood, this hood will feature a window to show off all of your engine goodies.

The hood which is probably going to be a big hit in show cars, may be something you sleeper guys would wanna shy away from. As any supercharger or poorly hidden nitrous lines would be easily visible. But if you want to show off your polished oil and brake fluid caps or your Whippled 4.6 then this is the hood for you!

Be wary though, as this new mod has the potential to be the next big ricer mod. As a glass hood is more than likely in the works for all the dressed up Tuners as well. Oh and remember to keep the Windex handy.

MamaStang: I asked my mechanic a bunch of annoying questions and apparently he was “too busy” to talk to me and said – “Go online and find a Mustang Forum.” So I did, I have to say…he’s been super supportive and very helpful. But if it weren’t for you guys here…I’d still be driving a stocker.

MM: What brings you to sign on everyday?

MamaStang: I love checking in with the crew and seeing what’s up with everyone. Seeing what everyone is doing to their cars gives me ideas for mine. I’m learning TONS about my car, which I find fascinating. Plus, I get to sharpen my already razor sharp wit!

MM: Where is your favorite part of the forum?

MamaStang: Duh – The clubhouse!

MM: Which is more accurate “MM is like close family” or “MM is like the part of the family where I would cry at their funeral but I wouldn’t go on vacation with”?

MamaStang: MM is like close family. And I would certainly go on vacation with you guys!

MM: Does Hmusn actually scare you?

MamaStang: Only when he accurately describes the position of which my door is in.

MM: How many times have you wondered if Hmusn REALLY was outside your window?

MamaStang: 1978 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham. White – T Tops – V8. It was the fastest car in the parking lot at school. Until some rich farmer’s kid got a brand new Firebird.

MamaStang: Cruiser – Not crazy fast…but fast enough to make you go…WOW! I don’t need to win speed contests but I like it to sound fast and look fierce!

MM: So who’s the hottest guy on here?

MamaStang: Hmmmm, Not sure I’ve seen enough pictures of all the guys to make an educated call on that. Maybe there should be a thread about that like the ROTM?

MM: What is your dream car?

MamaStang: As corny as this sounds, I’m currently driving my dream car. But 1 Fast Fox has a SWEET Aston Martin that is super sexy! If I had one of those that was paid for…that would be pretty cool.

MM: At the time of this writing you had 69 rep points…Comment?

MamaStang: 69? Better check your digits again. I’ve since got some sympathy points for not knowing anything about cars. lol

A little bit about MamaStang:

Raised in the middle of no where in Central Indiana. Has a passionate love for Mustangs that has possessed her, her whole life. Is married to a wonderful man who not only tolerates her “hobby” but he also supports and helps her with her addiction.

Also has two amazing children: Son, Tyler, is 16 and is in the process of completing his Eagle Rank in the Scouts. Daughter, Riley, is 10 and just earned her Blue Belt in Taekwondo.
