Saleen To Release S281 “Heritage Edition”
Just when you thought that Saleen was going to stop surprising us for awhile they come out with the news they’re preparing yet another special edition Mustang for us. One that will be released sometime in the near future and will have us all begging to test drive it.
We do know that Saleen has decided to paint this new Pony white instead of the Grabber Orange paint that seems to ordain most new mustangs. It is obvious to us that when building the S281 they decided to grab some tips from the Parnelli Jones Edition Mustang. The difference between the two vehicles is the loss of the shaker scoop and the tie down pins on the hood.
Saleen decided to make this vehicle unique by placing the famous black stripe only on the hood and only using one stripe instead of two. They did place the two prong stripes on the sides of the vehicle. The stripes are not the only thing new and unique. The wheels are five-spoke rims instead of the seven-spokes. And of course Saleen has placed their mark on the vehicle by spreading their name on the rear deck lid.
Unfortunately we don’t know what’s under the hood. It could have been equipped with the 5.0L powerplant that was placed in the Parnelli Jones Edition or maybe borrow the 540hp heart from the S281E… we’ll keep you posted.
