Arummel, didn't stinger discontinue that adapter plate or something? On their site it just says no longer available for that plate...

Another company started selling them. Do a search online, you,ll find it. And for the record, a V8 trans will slide right into your 4cyl bellhousing. The adaptor and special flywheel from spec, allow the larger flywheel and 10.5" clutch to be used, along with a scattershield if you want.

This^

Can't remember the name of the company off the top of my head.

As for the V8 trans on 4cyl bell, it will bolt on, but the V8 input shaft is different. You'll either have to have the v8 input shaft turned down to accept the 4cyl bushing, buy an adaptor bushing (Rapido group sells them but they are a pain in the ass), or turn out the crank to use all the v8 stuff.

Go on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and look up the stock t5 transmission for your year. You can probablly find a junkyard close by that will have a car with all the parts you need. I just did the swap last week so if you need any help I can walk you through it. Definatly do it though, you'll gain a respect for your 2.3l you never knew you could have. I almost enjoy driving my 2.3l 5 speed as much as my 5.4l five speed.

Modded 2.3 1986 SVO

Hey guys. New here so i'm not sure of any kind of format you might use. I am buliding my first engine. 2.3 Turbo and here is what I got so far. Esslinger Alum ported and polished head with the 2277 roller cam. Stinger center mount exhaust. Precision 6262 72mm Turbo. Spearco front mount intercooler. Gutted upper intake turned 120deg. Ported lower intake. 255lb walboro fuel pump. Adjustible fuel pressure regulator. 3in exhaust, no cat with magnaflow muff. AFR meter, Megasquirt 3 with 2 step and no lift shift. 8.8 Rear end. 96lb injectors. I Plan to add 2stage nitros and water meth injection next. Waiting on the megasqirt due in this week. I'm hoping for close to 500hp. Can anyone tell me what else I might need to make this happen and be reliable. I plan on driving it from time to time so it's not a straight drag car. Just a scary street ride. Thanks guys. Later I want to stroke it but first I need to get this part done and tuned.

Start a new thread.

Sounds like a nice build though. What trans are you putting behind it to hold up to that power?

And welcome to MM! Always nice to have another turboford guy around

Nah, it ought to be able to make that with the essy SVO head and supporting mods. As long as your bottom end is able to handle it. But the rest of the car needs to be able to hold that power
