You sure its an 83??? I think the turbo coupes were only made from 85-88

1991 Mustang LX 2.3L 5 Speed convert
1989 Ranger 4X4 2.5L 5 Speed solid Dana 30 front axle, 4.5" suspension lift, 3" body. ( blown up....)
Entire turbo kit waiting to be used again.

Yes, I used to own an 83' TC. Any of the turbo ECU's can be made to work with the engine. The preferred one's are from the 87+ TC, with the LA box-codes, but really, if you're serious about engine tuning and want to get the most out of your engine, I would seriously consider using a tuner device, like the Moates 1/4 horse, to tune your current ECU.

It can take some digging on your part, but there are BIN files available to drop the vane air meter from the system as well as a host of other mods that really make a difference with overall engine performance.

That is the engineering number, not a production year number.

Many times Ford would run engineering part numbers for several years before they needed to be 're-engineered'.
You are likely looking at the engineering number for the ecu case.

as stated, you should be able to sort it out, but tuning it would nice if you could tune it...
The LA3 ecu's have great support (87-88 tbird), and some of the mustang MAF 2.3 ecu's have pretty good tuning support as well.
