Well a 5.0 auto tranny fit a 2.3

Hey guys so my brothers 2.3 auto tranny is going out. it's sluggish as hell, doesn't pick up speed unless you baby it. I saw an ad for a auto out of a 5.0 and was wondering if it'll bolt right in, or would there be too much a difference?

Yeah, and they might be specific to a few years because of the electronics.

Ok so how about swapping to a t5? Should I go with a 5.0 t5 or stick to a 2.3? How interchangeable are they?

The 5.0 t5 has a larger input shaft pilot bearing. The best way to make it fit is to take the shaft to a machine shop, and have the pilot surface turned down to the right size. Then you need a 2.3 bell housing, a clutch pedal, cable, and some work. Maybe a crossmember. If you don't plan on Making 300hp, a 2.3 t5 will work nicely.
