Vortech Supercharger rebuild

Vortech makes some of the best Superchargers on the planet but as with all parts that need a rebuild sooner or later. Here is some info on whats required.

This is what you need:
2 Nachi ball bearings nac-6003 (must be speed rated)
2 SKF Ball Bearings 6205/C31 Chicago rawhide seal
SC/R-62481 Transcom seal
TCM-25x40x7tc1 Chicago Rawhide Speedi sleeve
C/R-99062

That is everything needed for replacing the bearings, seals, etc. Disassembling it is real easy...just take off the 8 bolts holding the front cover on, take off the impellar nut (i think i remember it being left hand thread), take off the compressor case and impellar and mark it so you can have it clocked right for reassembly. As for the rest, it is obvious how it comes off and you will have to have the old bearings pressed off and the new ones pressed back on. The toughest part is getting out the main shaft but with a small piece of threaded rod the size of the pulley bolt and a few quick blows from a hammer and it's out...anyways, it is really simple to do and is EXTREMELY cheap compared to Vortechs price to rebuild so there ya go. That is the very brief version of how to take it apart, there is a little more fine detail to it but you'll see once you start. just be careful with everything. this is replacing all the parts that vortech calls a "minor repair" at $395. all these parts cost WELL UNDER $50 if i remember correctly...maybe closer to $25

THESE parts just normal off the shelve parts and cost is like 75.00. vortech is making a killing after I see how my rebuild goes I may start to do these for about half of what vortech does them

TTT from the dead.

I also have V9 vortech charger.
Due to hydrolocking my motor, water got into the charger also.
I drained all water out nextday, and its been 2weeks now the charger is sitting on my garage.
I see some corrosion inside the charger.
I called vortech for repair/rebuild. They qouted me $700~$$.

What can I do?? Can I just relube everything and use it?? charger only has about 7k miles.

Does it still have the warranty tag on the head unit?? if it's been removed then they won't touch it without charging you a full rebuild cost. If you do have them rebuild it, they will warranty it but don't remove the tag or else again no warranty

A complete rip off if you can get those bearings for 25-50 bucks as the OP stated.

Ya well, the OP never once stated where he could get them that cheap.( seems like the most useful piece of info was left out of this thread) Not that ive looked that hard, but ive never come across them as cheap as this guy stated.

Any ways, if you find them cheap, post up the link

Yeah, it's just too bad Vortech would rather rape you by telling you your blower is junk than actually fix it for the 300$ rebuild price they quote you. They lie to you in hope you'll opt for a new blower all the while they offer you squat for you old "supposedly wore out" blower.

I think I'll try rebuilding it thank you very much! Oh, you're banned so you won't see this... oh well.
