Fender Flare Help

Looking to install fender flares on my 86 Thunderbird to give it a unique look. What is the suggested process? Do I mount them flush with the stock wheel well line, or do you mount them slightly higher and and cut out the excess sliver? I found a set at a decent price that I think will fit, I just need to re-measure.

It depends on the wheel fitment that you would like to achieve. If you lower the suspension or put bigger wheels you may need to get more room in the wheel arches to avoid rubbing. If that's the case, I would recommend to install the wheels, complete the suspension and once it's done proceed with the fender flare installation. In case you would need to trim the fenders it will be required to treat the cuts with anti corrosive resin or paint.
