Modular means, cams which are in each of the heads. A SOHC has one cam per head and a DOHC has 2 cams per head. A pushrod has just that, pushrods that are in touching the cam in the center of the engine, and move the roller rockers on the head to open and close the valves. Hope this helps, all Mustangs since 96 have had the modular motor. The 96-2004 GTs 2Vs, 96-2004 Cobras 4Vs, 03-04 Machs 4V, and then the 3V in the new GTs.
