HOW TO: Change Transmission Oil in a T3650

Is this a how-to yet?

Its simple really.

1) Get the car up on jacks or stands or whatever you would usually do to lift the front of the car for a oil change.

2) From inside the car, remove shift knob

3) Unclip the plastic housing by giving it a nice little tug. Note that your cigarette lighter is plugged into a very short wire behind this, so once you get in un-clipped make sure to unhook it so you can pull it clean off. You will need to press in a small clip to unhook it. I used a precision screwdriver to do it.

4) Remove the 6 highlighted bolts:


5) Once you have removed the cover, you will see four 1/2" bolts. Remove those for access to the transmission. Note, in order for me to physically remove this piece, I had to get under the car with a flat head and hammer and lightly tap the LIP of the piece from underneath the car. This poped off pretty easy and was not very though.


6) Once removed, you will see this:


7) STOP. You will now be moving to under the car to drain the transmission. To do this is simple, all you will need is a 3/8" socket, w/ extension if preferred. The drain plug is located on the back/driver side of the transmission. It is about a 1" wide plug that has a crevice to place a 3/8" socket in. Unscrew it, drain transmission.

Once drained, replace screw and tighten to prevent leaks. Like always, don't OVER TIGHTEN, but get snug.

8) Now you can get to work on filling it back up. Using just a funnel, pour your desired fluid in. Only takes 3.2 quarts. Pick your poison.


8) Replace everything removed in reverse order. Dont forget to plug back in your cig lighter!

9) Your done! Takes about 30 min or so.

i think is a good guide.. but you need to mention that you should clean the old silicon and used new silicon on the shifter.

same intercooler we just took the time to fix it haha. We lifted it about another 2 inches and then added the chin spoiler. I was very lucky to get those fog lights back in, I had to cut off the entire bottom half of the fog housing. Works great tho, the fogs are actually supported now by the IC piping lol.

Good stuff glad to see your fogs are in and working, a lot of guys seem to go fogless after adding a cooler. Can't wait to run into that mess with my car My wideband and feed/drain lines should be here in a few days and then I'm starting to build her. Still not looking forward to tapping my oil pan, not gonna lie I'm a bit unsure about it.

hardest part of the build IMO. Not that it is HARD, its more "one chance to fuck it up" thing haha. Just go by the "measure twice, cut once" mentality and you will be alright. youll be happy when its over lol.

and you just pour "3.2" quarts in and your good. 3.2 quarts is 3.2 quarts. pour it in and you will have 3.2 quarts. lol.

btw, IMO its waay easier/faster to pump through the fill hole

and nvm, i see he's using the syncromesh stuff. not sure the weight on that. otherwise probably 75 140 like said

Yeah I was planning on doing the lucus. So syncro mesh & lucus.

yeah thats about right. It ended up being about ~3/4 a bottle of lucas, and 2.75 bottles of syncromesh. (two full bottles + ~3/4 of the last bottle, maybe a tad less)


yeah dude had no idea how big that burger was gonna be. I forgot a lb of beef is a lot lol. this place has the best burgers on the east coast apparently, little hole in the wall in Charlotte. Cost me $6.50 or something retarded for a full lb of meat haha
