How would you know if it was damaged buying a used supercharger?

Best websight to get a screamin deal on a supercharger? Quality control, I would be upset greatly if I bought a damaged supercharger. Do you have any tips on what to look for?

May have a buttload of mileage and doesn't want to stress out the stock parts any more (but if that's the case, I don't recommend heads on a PoS shortblock...). Who knows?

If you want to get a very loudly screaming deal, you have to buy used and skip retail prices.. You just have to use common sense when it comes to the head unit. Look for chips/cracks on the impeller, shaft play, the housing is pretty solid but look for the obvious cracks anyway. Also, look for evidence of an oil stain that might've been washed off, it could tell you that it has bad seals.

Then again I'd suggest just getting your heads/gaskets taken care of, then decide what you want, power-wise. Trying to turn repairs into performance upgrades can be a hassle sometimes. At least it worked for me once.

If it was further damaged?

If I did have further damage would it still be driving? It hasent phsically locked up on me yet although it has been driven a lot since it started to smoke.

Seriously though, like I said, the Trick Flows are the best but you're going to spend $2300 for a set. Patriot Stage II can be had new for $1300 and have been upgraded with quality components. As for the smells you're getting it could be a mix of burning oil and coolant. I just hope the engine isn't hurt cause then you'll need a lot more than heads.

It doesn't seem like there's further damage, and hopefully there isn't any.

If you go to Modular Mustang Racing's website, and go under the SOHC products, scroll down a bunch, you'll see that they offer new stage 1 ported PI heads with stock PI cams. It's just a minor stage 1 port and polish, so you'll probably pick up a little power with stock cams, plus you get new stock valves, springs, retainers, locks, and PI cams for $1,249.99 with no core charge.

If it were me I'd add $99.99 to that and have them throw in bronze valve guides.

Well of course. I didn't pay any attention to the thread title though. Stock heads absolutely do not suck.
