this is all false. a 5.4 and a 4.6 are the same block w/ a different deck height. the only issue is the intake, not the heads

Will the 4.6 heads match up with a 5.4 intake? I didn't think they would. That's what I'm basing my statement off of.

all the 4.6 heads will work on all the 5.4s.due to the added deck heightthe intake can no longer bridge the added gap on the 5.4. you can use adapter plates to use a cobra intake, you can use a navi intake(totally retarded), you can use a cobra r intake, am aussie intake, make a sheet metal intake, or you can get lucky and find a sullivan intake.

think of the 4.6 engine as a lower case "v" and the 5.4 as a tall upper case "V".

same block, one is taller. the intake will be used to bridge the gap at the top of our Vs and make a triangle. because the 5.4 is taller it places the ports on the cylinder heads afrther apart than those on the 4.6. the line you would drawn to make a triangle out of the upper case "V" would be longer than the line to make a triangle out of the lower case "v"

can you dig it?

These are MODULAR MOTORs.

All Modular heads work with ALL Modular blocks. (Not including the new 5.0)

You just need to find the correct intake for your head/block combo

I didn't know they had adapter plates to do that. I just remember a few years ago reading that the heads off of a 4.6 wouldn't work bc they wouldn't work with the 5.4 intake. I need to get caught up with this shit.

4.6 heads will be fine on a 5.4. The thing with the 5.4 is navi motors have their own heads that have a larger intake port. Naturally the intake on a navi has the larger ports to match the heads, but it only matches those heads. If you think the navi intake is a waste of heads then there is no problem with using 4.6 4v heads. The other 5.4 option is GT/R heads that allow you to use the cobra R intake, but those parts are probably not going to just fall into your lap. So really you can have a boss 290 intake, sullivan intake or cobra intake with adapters. All of those are made to match the ports of normal C heads, the heads you would find on a 4.6.

Navi heads on a 4.6 can use a cobra intake, just gotta work the ports opening a little to match the intake.

I was foolin around on ebay and theres actually a Cobra R intake upper, lower, fuel rail/injectors, egr, throttle body and a few other things. It was only a meer 4995.99 lol

pretty much everything. if anyone has anything useful at all new or used id be interested to hear about it and how much they are selling it for. right now terry at street lethal has a used 5.4 block and a set of heads for me. im overpaying for the block at $700 and hes selling me the heads for a steal at $1500 considering the valves, springs, lifters, etc im getting with them. but thats all we have right now. i play to buy manly rods and pistons and id love to get my hands on an intake(sullivan, boss 290, etc) if by some miracle someone had one sitting around. but seriously, man... if anyone has anything i could use if its in good condition and the price is right they might as well consider it sold.

700 for the block? I think thats what I paid for my navi motor. and 1500 for heads might not be as good of a deal as you think. I believe NA SVT knows where you can get GT heads for ~that price and there are a couple cobra R lower manifolds around for a few 100 bucks, just need to make a lid for them and you are good to go.
