is anyone running a promotion 3650?

I am on the fence as to which transmision to put into my car. One option is the promotion 3650 with the upgraded internals. Is anyone on the forum running their stuff? If so how much power are you putting through it, and how is it holding up? I know they have a good Rep, I just don't know if I can get away with one of these or do I have to bite the bullet and spring for the magnum? I broke the input shaft on the stock unit last fall. The car should be just north of 650 RWHP this summer after head unit upgrade. Any thoght or insight is helpful. Thanks...

Im running a promotion t45 with my power level in sig. Should actually be higher than that because i fixed a fuel issue. Guy before me had a 200 shot on just the engine and was putting down 490/650 and drove the living hell out of it and it held just fine

I'm going to order one this spring. Made up my mind as so many ppl recommend them. I can't justify spending all that money to switch to a 6 speed. Getting car re-tuned also for more power. Might get 3rd gear faceplated. Right now i get locked out of 3rd sometimes at WOT. NOT cool. Damn synchros.

While I dont have any first hand experience with them. I have read a lot of good reviews about the promotion products holding up well.

Matt02GT has one in his car and he makes 430 hp and 440 tq i believe. Granted, its not your power level but he launches at 5k or 6k on slicks and powershifted. Held for last season. You could PM him and ask.

I had a promotion T45 in my 99 GT with a cammed 4v. Busted it. 353rwhp...no nitrous just motor...

Went with a T45 from 'TheT45Source.com'. Zak is the man. Car currently made 590rwhp on spray and held up just fine shifting at 8k rpm.

Call him. Tell him I sent you. You won't be dissapointed. And Ill bet he beats any price/trans from ProMotion.

Why not just a TKO 500?

Cause they are heavy and shift like S(%T unless you pay to get them worked.

So a modified 3650 is the best shifting performance option?

I wanna leave at 6500 on slicks and bang 2, 3, and 4 without lifting my right foot with 500rwhp. Lol

I just ran [email protected] on a 150shot in dallas a month or two ago. I was making close to 600rwhp, I left at 6000rpm...wanted to go higher, but my 2 step wasn't working and I also didn't want to break anything.

Car left hard, held and I banged the trans at 8000rpm like a 2 bit hooker in a small town you found on friday the 13th after the zombie apocalypse.

Still drove the rest of the night fine and even a cruise the next day.

Your race weight will also determine how long it will last. Granted my car is pretty light, but a 3650 is just a bit stronger than my 45. The gears are stong, it usually heat that kills them. Me and Zak were working on a external pump/cooler to keep the bearings cool to make them/the tran last longer.

Hope this helps.

Just give him a ring. He won't do you wrong. He is the S%^#!

^ This. Only ran it for the end of last season but no problems so far. Was also using a 2Step. And the price is tough to beat. They had great customer service as well.

I have ben running a Promotion 3650 for five years and never had a problem with it. I drag race it often(powershifting). I am at 550rwhp. I have also launched it off a two step at 3000rpm about 4 times. Car weighs 3600 with me in it. I have put about 20,00 miles on it.

So I'm not the only one with this problem!

I've also heard that the shift forks like to go in the 3650s.

Great advice guys. I think you all helped me make up my mind. I am going to stick to the 3650 but i will most likely go with the SFI bell. Thank you all....

They won't faceplate 3rd gear. Not on a 3650. They might pro shift it but not faceplate
