T-45 Issues: No 3rd or 4th

I'm curious what you guys with more experience regarding transmissions think this problem might be. My T45 works great, except for the fact that I have NO 3rd or 4th gears. Every other gear engages fine and the shifter moves around flawlessly. I put it in 3rd or 4th and the throw feels identical to each other gear but there is almost no feedback from the transmission when you can feel the shifter slide through the synchros and into gear. I can have the clutch out and rev 3rd and 4th freely. Here is a video demonstrating the issues. Any ideas on what this could be?

When I broke my 3/4 shift fork it acted exactly like you show in the video. The pivot or whatever you call the circle part of the fork split in half, so it didn't grind, just nothing. However, I knew exactly when it happened, because it was during a hard shift. From what I read, the 3/4 shift fork is the one of the weakest parts of the T45.

Great info. This is exactly what I was thinking since both gears are out and this is the exact experience I was looking for. Thanks for the input.

You looks to me like exactly what happened in my '02 I had.
Most of the time it's just one of the wrist pins that falls out dropping the shift fork.
Also could be the stock shift fork that just shattered, they are fragile like glass, and would drop if dropped on a concrete floor from 5 feet, haha.
If you can shoot for a cryo treated shift forks, like I assume that Jayc posted above, it would behoove you to just go for that.

Sorry to hear/see that man Tranny problems suck lol. My buddy blew his 2nd gear syncro up and you had to drive his 03 GT around going from 1st to 3rd and that was absolute hell.. I can only imagine going from 2nd to 5th all the time.... On the bright side your car sounds sick!

Yeah, if it weren't for the 4.10's it would REALLY blow. And the worst part is I just finished installing a wot box and I can't even bang gears with it But thanks man! Kind of a haphazard exhaust setup but I don't mind it. It does the job!

I've heard they are a very weak piece. Can anybody point out some more weak points in the trans that I may as well take a look at while I've got it out? I've never done trans work but I don't mind a learning experience. It's got a lot of miles on it and I like to bang gears so I wouldn't mind a bit more piece of mind before it goes back in.

my pilot bearing is squealing mildly. Maybe bearing stuff? Synchronizers? I know I need to replace my pilot bearing, 3rd synchro, and I may as well do the clutch and throw out bearing. Maybe even shift forks since stumbling onto this thread!

FLSFC's FTW. I'm glad I had them done. I just went ahead and coated mine with that rubberized spray that you can pick up from your local retailer; The "As seen on TV" rubberized spray. My car was already showing signs of need for the FLSFC's. I went with the MM brand and have been happy with the solid body thus far. Not to mention I just had my 4.10's put on yesterday, seems like the order I should have done things was backwards in my end lol.

Hey, a lot of people will say FLSFC's are the first thing to be done. The only thing holding me up is a good lift to weld them up on. I should probably work on my MIG welds too

Oh yeah, and the fact that I now have a trans to pull and rebuild
