Lowering Springs

What set of springs do you guys recommend that would lower it enough to eliminate some of the gap but safe enough where I wouldnt need caster/camber plates or bump steers?

I am going to do my whole suspension at once, but need to find a set of springs that will keep me from scraping over everything. Damn Ford for how they didnít do a better job of tucking that exhaust. And damn me for adding long tubes lol

Go with H&R Springs and either Tokico or Bilstein shocks/struts.

I have steeda sports on my 02 gt with stock cc plates and no bumpsteer kit and it drives fine.

Pick whichever springs you like best and use a set of camber bolts in the strut. They are cheap. Every mustang I've changed the springs on needed more than the stock plates could adjust.

i looked at those but looks like the drop is over an inch. iv been told anything more than in inch needs camber plates and possibly bumps steers.

No excessive wear. Ive read that these cars can go over 1.5” before needing a bumpsteer kit but that is going to be a case by case scenario.

Why dont you want to get cc plates and a bumpsteer kit?

You're most likely going to need caster camber plates even with just an 1" drop because these Mustangs don't do well with lowering. You can get springs, see how the tire wear is and then get caster camber plates later. I didn't have them for awhile and my tire wore faster, and I got them to save a little more life out of my tires. You can get away with a bumpsteer kit if you're lowering 1"-1 1/2" but past that it's very important. I currently have H&R Race springs and Bilsein HD struts, and it's an incredible pairing.

Stay away from offset steering rack bushings they only cause more problems than they solve. You should also check out maximummotorsports.com as they are a great resource on Mustang suspension.

B Springs drop maybe an inch at most.

I've got Bilstein hds with Ford b springs on my gt and I didn't need a bump steer kit or cc plates. It's lowered about an inch.

I can understand that but honestly you might as well at least get cc plates just in case. I bought my car lowered without plates and have put new tires on it without problems but that doesnt mean you wont. What if you take it to an alignment shop and they cant get it to spec? Youll be kicking yourself for not having them.

I really like them and they are probably the best struts you can get for the Mustang. I came from a 2" drop and stock struts with a blown strut and the ride was awful, back breaking, constantly hitting the ground. Since the HD's the ride is so much better, and the harsh, uncomfortable, back breaking, ride is gone. It's still firm but so much more comfortable.

My friend has a Lexus F Sport and he says my Mustang is very similar in ride and comfort.

If you have the money I would absolutely recommend the Bilstein HD's over any other strut.

I did Steeda Sport Springs. I did get caster/camber plates just to be safe. I'm riding on Monroe Sensatracs which need to be replaced as I did those when I was stock height but they have minimal miles on them so I run them for that reason. I plan on ordering STR.T's probably today or tomorrow due to LMR's sale they have going on. They advertise a 1.25" drop but I got 1.5" with new isos in place. I'm assuming since I'm a vert. I wanted a drop but nothing too low due to long tubes and speed bumps. My bumpsteer is fine and I didn't do anything special when I put a new rack in (like say offset mounts). I did put in poly mounts versus rubber to help keep the rack firm but no bump steer issues. 1.5" seems to be that sweet spot before you run into issues.

Its stiff but not harsh or jarring. I do think the B springs are a bit soft for the Bilsteins, I wish I had gone with H&R race springs instead. But that's just me being nitpicky, it rides great and relatively comfortably with the Bilstiens and Ford B springs. Its pretty much how you'd expect a sports car to ride.

Ah damn it - I was going to go with the STR.T's. Now I'm reconsidering.

Aren't you supposed to match the spring rate to the type of strut/shock you get? I don't mind dropping the coin on the Bilsteins but google searches yeilded a lot of guys liking the STR.T's with steeda sport springs.

With my current shocks and struts (Monroe Sensatracs) which I have because I installed during stock height the ride is pretty harsh - ess hitting bumps at high speed.
