Dyno'ed the Cobalt

Wanted to get an idea of where she's at power wise. Plus I needed something to compare to when I go big turbo. Put down 320whp/352wtq SAE on a Dynojet.

This was actually done at a Mustang shop. Performance Evolution out of Smyrna, DE. Matt was awesome and very helpful when we were having issues with getting a good tach signal. God damn GM cars...

Nice numbers. You're making 30whp more than me and over 100wtq more.

If only the Cobalt didn't weigh 3,000 pounds. lol. The Focus is probably 600+ pounds less.

I'm going out to our local 1/4 track on the 9th if the weather is decent. Got a set of Mickey Thompson ET Streets in and some trans mounts for traction. Just need to get everything mounted. Really want 12's, but the track is horrible. I need to suck it up and drive to Cecil.

Yeah, the Focus weighs ~2550lbs with me in it and a half tank so it's well under 2400lbs empty. I'm running 24 x 8 x 15 M/T slicks on the Focus with skinny 3.5" tires on back.

You should be able to hit 12s without much effort. I went 12.93 @ 105mph when I was only making 230/215.

I wanted to go slicks, but I don't have the money for smaller brakes and wheels on top of tires.

Eh. They're limited on the stock supercharger(a little M62). Plenty of people turbo swap or swap the M62 for a TVS.

Seen TVS cobalts put down 360/300 and turbo swaps(usually bullseye s256's) throw down 400/400 and more.

Stout motors hidden in a crap car.

That's very impressive, I never thought the cobalts could handle/make that much HP.

First time out at the track today. 13.19 @ 109. Even on DR's, I could only manage 2.1 60'. Shit driver mod. :-/

Learned quite a bit though. Data logged the whole day and going to tweak the tune, order new plugs and a nicer clutch to replace the stock one(can't handle the DR's...). I really wanted 12's, and if I can cut that 60' just a little I shouldn't have a problem.

Buddies CTS-V couldn't break 13.3 and a friend's cammed and bolted 2v couldn't get under 14.

That's still moving. My 60' was a 2.1 and I ran a 12.7 @ 112. It has more in it with better air and tires but still that's pretty decent.

I'm going to make the trip out to Cecil next time I give it a go. I have no doubt I'll be in the 12's there. Delmar is known for crap prep and the surface is sketchy the whole way down.

Last run I cut a 2.0 60', and felt great. Went to no lift shift from 1st to 2nd and heard a loud pop and lost all power. Dash lit up like a christmas tree and I coasted down the track(still beat the VW next to me ). I was worried I fucked up the clutch, cause she's been slipping with the DR's on. Ended up being misfires at the 1 and 4 cylinder. Think it's bad plugs. Going to check them tomorrow. Had to get some sleep before work.
