The new GTO

Browsing on autotrader I saw a nice black 2005 GTO with a 6 speed pop up in Jersey, so we drove up there and bought her that next day. Got her home, washed her real quick and got some shots. Already have some plans laid out.

To do list(for now)-
  • LS7 clutch
  • G-Force Level 1 Axles (good to 750hp)
  • G-Force Rear Coilover kit
  • New wheels (TBD)
  • 3.90 gears
  • Longtube headers (Kooks or SLP)

And for pictures:

Thanks, man! I want to get it out to the track so bad. She suffers from rear spring sag though, and wheel hops like a bitch. Damn IRS. Once the clutch, axles, and rear coilovers are in, I'm going to try and beat the Cobalt's 13.1 1/4 mile.

I like those cars but the weight and that IRS keeps me from ever owning one. Nice find.

She's a fucking pig. Body roll like crazy vs the Balt. But it's a nice car for cruising around. It's not the quickest car in the family for now.

Some dude has been trying to LSx swap one for like 5 years. Last I heard it was running. An SBF Balt could totally happen. Such a car would really fuck with people. lmao

God dang, I LOVE me a nice GTO. Two of my friends had them in the last few years, and the combination of price/luxury/and raw power on those cars always made me green with envy. Too bad both GTO's are long since totaled.

I fully expect a detailed build thread, and cam to go in this thing by summer. .

I considered a GTO but I think the styling is very bland. They do make good power, though.

I wish. I'm doing the less flashy stuff first though. New clutch, rear suspension, and better tires. Want to get out to the track ASAP.
