I have one very big issue with DSMs - the motor points the wrong way. You effectively have a FWD car that just happens to have a propeller shaft coming out the side of the transaxlefercase (what IS the technical name for that thing?) to power the rear wheels. One that is on permanent recall from Mitsubishi for being too weak (at least in the 2nd gens it is).
the name escapes me as well and i don't feel like searching for it. i have never really seen other AWD cars and how they are set up ... how is it different than the DSM's? i'll have to search that one ...

as for having to put an eclipse front on ... this is true basically the only way you can get body parts is from a parts car or auto wrecker. that is to be expected i suppose with it no longer being in production.

are you ready to have a 4-door "grocery-getter"?
i'm just playing - i'm a huge fan of the subies, i think they look badass, and sound sweet too.

but that WRX is smecksi. could do without the headlights, but the rims are aight by me
Your not the only one! I love the 4g63, one of the best engines of all time IMO, it could be put up there with the 4.0 Reniux. I love mitsus though over talons and what not.

You seem excited about that price, Its very good but with some looking lower can be achieved but not with that few miles/abuse.

I also like the rims, but if you do bail on them sell high!

eff it, bought a wrx, finally.

subaru outback sport, my mom just picked up a 08 for 18k and it has everything including a remote start, and it is a great car, you can get the older ones for about the same price and they have the same 2.5L as the STi

i would recommend selling your car privately .. you always get more for it that way as opposed to trade-ins. it is some extra hassle, but on a trade-in the dealership was going to give my dad no more than 4g for his truck, and he just sold it for 6500. just a thought ..

Other than the turbo, that is. Outback Sports are all N/A.

But not in an Outback Sport. You can only get the 2.5L Turbo and the 3.0L in the regular (Legacy) Outback.

you definitly cant go wrong with Subaru, they look good and run great. I myself would love a WRX STI if I could afford a new car right now. But ya I think Subaru would be right for you.

Audi AWD's > Subaru AWD's. In my opinion. The new WRX interiors have to be the most uncomfortable interiors of any car I've ever seen. The new STi 5 door "wagon" looks great, and outperforms it's predecessing model, but if I just wanted an AWD car for daily driver purposes, I'd go to Audi. Hell I've seen some 01-03 S4's in the low-teen's ($12-15K) on Craigslist. Personal choice but I'd rather have an '02 A4 or S4 with a 6-speed than a 2000-something WRX (nothing against Subaru... the new Legacy GT is one nice looking sports sedan).

Vortech V2, intercooled @ 10psi. Maximum Motorsports supsension goodie bag car less roll cage. Built '04 IRS. Hodge-podge of Roush/Stalker panels.

Not that I'm disagreeing, but what are you basing this on? And how are you defining "better" when it comes to an AWD system?

which you you get if you had the choice? The insurance on both cars are pretty much the same...

2001 Audi S4 quattro Sedan AWD (looks like new tires....)

OR
2002 wrx (will probably need tires after winter...)

I did want the wrx alot more, but now im thinking the S4 because of the price difference... Plus the s4 has leather seats and a bose system... with 1 sub already hooked up in the trunk... I did get to testdrive the wrx and it drove nicely but the dealer really wouldnt go down very much on the pricing so i walked that day...

Side Note: i dunno how this worked out but the S4 is like 50$ a year cheaper for insurance then my v6 mustang...

i'd say if you're younger than 40, get the subie. that audi looks like an old man car.

yeah its really a hard decision for me. They both will fit just as many grocery's in them... but i would get home faster in the s4... i guess ill just have to test drive the s4 to see how i like that. Then maybe call the rex dealer to see if he will go any lower...
