If u were wondering what 410s do with out a tune

ABSOLUTLY NOTHING OTHER THAN U CAN DO A BETTER BURN OUT. MY WIFE TOOK HER 07 TO THE TRACK WITH THE NEW 410'S WHILE HER TUNER IS BEING UNLOCKED ( SEE PREVIOUS THREAD FOR WHY ITS LOCKED). HER BEST TIME WAS 9.17. SHE WAS RUNNING 8.9-9.02 WITH STOCK GEARS. SHE SAID THAT IT DOES NOT GET GOING TILL THE END OF THE TRACK. SO IF YOUR WANTING TO RACE 1/8 MILE MAKE SURE U GET A TUNE WITH THE GEARS OR U ARE WASTING UR MONEY JUST FYI

Do you realize that the only benefit a tune will give the gears is that it will correct the speedo. If you have a tune, then swap in 4.10s, then get it tuned for the gears; it would be just as fast w/ or w/out that final tune.

Sounds like she just needs some practice and experience on the gears.

actually the sct tune gives u different shift points. Im pretty sure cause it was a monster with the stock gears when the tune was in it.

by your shift point comments I have to assume the car is an auto, if thats the case, quit driving it without a tune for the gears unless you want to put a trans in it (if it's not to late already).

electronic automatic transmissions use numerous inputs to opperate (from battery voltage to throttle posision to road speed & everything in between) the cannot tolerate a gear swap without a tune immediately (ie. have the tuner in your hand ready to install the tune before you drive the car for the first time with the gears).

I hope it works out ok for you, but quit driving the car till yo have the tuner.

so what happens if ive been driving my auto for probably like a year and a half without a tune and gears in it? i just assumed the only thing it was messing up was the speedo...

some people will get away with it (it does severly effect your performance, mpg's, etc though), some blow the trans up the first day.

bottom line, if you have an auto with gears & no tune for them, your playing russian rulette with a 1500-3000 dollar trans.

huh...idk how i have never even heard about that. I've been debating whether or not to buy a sct tuner...i guess this helps me decide for sure! Thanks man!

oh crap my wife is racing it today and she raced it last night. its got a reflash from the dealer do think it will be ok that way????

Never hrd this either. I changed my gears and called BAMA to get an update, they said to just change the options in the tuner. Only thing this does is correct the speedo.

The shift points are controlled by the RPMs, the gears just let you get to higher RPMs faster. No reason to worry about this IMO.

update on wifes car

well it ran fine friday but today on the second pass it would not shift into 3rd she let it cool then ran an 8.92 with no issues. then on elims. it did it agian. so there is something to what casper g/t was saying. bu driving n the highway no problems.

you could change the tune for the gears with a hand held, the reason I said what I did was because the o/p doesn't have a hand held.

the trans is controlled by numerous sensors/etc as I stated earlier, the VSS needs to see the proper input for the trans to work (have you ever owned an SCT? if so look at how SCT adjusts your shift points..............yes they use miles per hour, if the gears throw off your speedo, what do you think it does to your shift points/etc?)

as to the no reason to worry, have fun buying a trans.

4.10s get you into the powerband faster. I am lost as to why a tranny problem is being implied
