I Have Made A Decision...

Posted April 25th, 2008 at 08:34 PM by ChrisJ

Well me and my wife have decided to start losing weight...I started this on Monday...

I weighed in at 225lbs...For being 5'7" that is bad...I weighed myself this AM and I weigh 218lbs...

I have cut all cokes and other $hit out of my diet...

Im getting portion control under control...I have been limiting myself to about 1400 calories a day with a water intake of 3 liters per day at least...

I am working out again...2 miles runs and the 2 miles of walking...

I am eating right and living better even though it has only been a week...

My goal is to be back in my pre-military shape by Christmas...

Thats about 155lbs...So I have about 64lbs to lose...

I will keep this blog updated at least every other day...

    Mamastang congrats...

You have done a great accomplishment and that is what we are going for...

We have been doing our portion control and working out and everything has been feeling better and better each day...

    Yeah it does feel good...

I love to eat...Thats the problem...I have no portion control...And as I have gotten older shedding the pounds is not as easy as it was back in the day...

When I went into the Air Force I was 155lbs...5 years later at a desk job I am 225 (218 Now)...So yeah something has to give...

I actually looked at what my daily calorie intake has been for the average day for the past couple of years...My daily calorie intake was damn near 3000 calories a day at least...I have to cut that down; which I have done...

I am really looking into losing a decent chunk of this weight and prolly bouncing into muay thai because I have quite a few friends who fight in it around here...And that will help me maintain the weight loss for long term...

My biggest issue is staying motivated...But it is getting easier...Especially with my wife pushing...

About 3 years ago I had decided to do this...And I got down to about 170 lbs...Which was great but I did it with a fad diet and got put on 12's and couldn't sustain it...

But I am not doing a fad diet now...I am watching the portions and eating right...

It is funny but losing just 7lbs has made a big change...I am sleeping better, feel better, everything is seeming better...

We are finding things that we enjoy that get us outside...Like today we are going to busch gardens...Which is going to be a blast and also help us get our walking in for the day...

7 lbs in a weeks is WONDERFUL! Great job! I'm so with you on the loving food. Just got home from a Culinary Tour of Chicago as a matter of fact! Have to get on the elliptical tomorrow and undo bad things. lol

Check out The Fat Smash Diet. http://www.amazon.com/Fat-Smash-Diet...9258235&sr=8-4 $5!!

Now before you think - not another fad diet - give it a shot. I'm with you on the fads - you loose a bunch then gain it all back plus some! The Fat Smash teaches you portion control and how to eat healthier foods and incorporate exercise. I lost 9 1/2 lbs in the first 9 days and couldn't believe how great I felt. I've never felt deprived either since he talks about those feelings and how to deal with them. Just a suggestion but it's been such an amazing help for me and my fam. Can't say enough great things about it.

Keep blogging - I'll keep ya motivated if you prod me every once in a while!

Just got back from walking around Busch Gardens for 5 hours today...Just drinking water...Im feeling good right now...Its great...

I know what you are talking about with Chicago...I am from Louisville Kentucky and alot of my family lives in the South Side Of Chicago (Irish)...Love the food...Haven't had really good chili since I left for the USAF back in 03...Cant wait to move back in 4 months...

So is the book pretty easy to go by?

That's awesome! Just let me know if you have questions or need help. I'm so excited to see how you guys like it!

It's super easy to follow - there is the Extreme Fat Smash as well but it's more regimented. You have to eat exactly what they tell you - I'm a rebel - don't take orders well. LOL The Fat Smash just gives you lists of foods that are okay for each phase and lists of foods that you should avoid. But he tells you if there is something that you feel you must have - have it. But make your next choice a healthy one and do some extra exercise to make up for it. Totally common sense stuff but when you read the book you just have this "ah ha" moment...or at least I did.

We had so much fun in Chicago today! I would never dream of driving up there and wandering the neighborhoods so this bus trip was awesome! We went to the Fulton Fish Market - loaded up on fresh walleye!! Then went to Greek Town - Picked up 2 pounds of Greek Olives - black and green! Then to the Greek bakery - gotta have some Baklava and other honey laden yummies. Back on the bus then to Andersonville - Swedish Bakery awaits - 2 boxes of petit fours and cookies! Ate at a Mediterranian place called Reza's - $17 buffett which included a glass of champagne! Yum-O Then back on the bus - went to Sam's Wine and Spirits. Picked up a six pack each of Strongbow Cider, Wood Pecker Cider, Lignenkugels Summer Shandy and James Boags Ale. And a bottle of some liquor called Vana Tallinn! LOL That was a frickin' fun trip! Can't wait to go back now!! Can't beat Chicago for food, that's for sure! Was proud of myself though - didn't stuff myself all day but had a great time anyway.

Chicago is great for food...You have only scratched the surface...

I ordered the book so we will see...For the money it was an easy buy...lol...And I am sure it is going to work...

Today we slept in and are about to go to the grocery...Gotta go pick up this weeks food for dinner and such...

I have to say eating healthy is tough for me at least...I have a very hectic life style and stay busy pretty much 16 hours a day at least...But packing my lunches and snacks should help...I am really digging these 100 calorie snacks that all the big names in snack foods are putting out...Like Chex Mix...I love it...

It is getting easier day by day though...

It is raining outside today so my walking will be indoors today...We have digital cable so we just watch something on the "on demand fitness" section and do an hour workout which is the equivalent of walking 3 miles...

Thank you very much for your support...It helps to stay motivated from day to day...

Love those 100 cal paks too...I avoid them like the plague though because I can't eat just one of them. Packing lunches is a great way to loose weight - and save money! If you like oatmeal - try to have a package of Quaker Simple Harvest Oatmeal in the morning - 1 packet will fill you up but I usually have to eat 2 of the regular quick oatmeal. The Simple Harvest has more whole grains - and flax seeds - which expand when they get wet then expand more in your tummy - instant full feeling for a while. Great fiber...anything with great fiber is a must.

Cannot wait for you to get your book - let me know when you're ready to start Phase 1. It sounds rough at first but commit to the 9 days. I had to keep reminding myself - it's just 9 days out of my life and the payoff will be huge. I had no idea how huge but it was an awesome and literally life changing experience.

    Wow...k...I'll stop now. LOL

    Congratulations on your decision, Chris.

I did a similar thing a couple years ago when I hit 250. I'm supposed to be around 200, I think, so that was way out of hand for me.

    We'll be watching you! lol

And congratulations to you on your success, Mama. Looking mighty fine there. Rar!

    Thanks guys and gals...

    Yeah I love oatmeal...

I normally have a package every morning...Made with water of course...

yeah the book should be here this week and me and my wife will start it...Any other pointers on it? Like anything you found that helped?

We have also incorporated this "Leslie Sansone - Walk At home" I have to say once you get past the feeling of being goofy doing this stuff in your living room it works great...You keep your heart rate up for a solid 45 minutes which is awesome...We have been doing that as well...

We normally do 3 miles of outside walking/jogging and do the video for 45 minutes which is 3 more miles...So a total of 6 miles per day for the past week...I am already feeling great...My wife is doing even better then me...

Mamastang please go on with your experience...I enjoy hearing about it...It helps me get inspired...

    Zippie
Yeah I figured it was time...Im 25...Im married...Im moving back home...I have everything I really want...Well now I have decided that I want to get fit...So my goal is Christmas 2008 i will be back in shape...Or at least a pickup from the current state...

But I can already tell I am feeling better everyday and I am doing it the right way without pills and $hit this time...And no drugs either...lol

I have also started taking my vitamins...I take a "Mens One-A-Day" every morning before work and it is great...

    Please keep it coming guys...

I want to look back at these blogs in 6 months and be happy about my choices...And to know who i ahve to thank for it...

The best advice I can give is commit. Commit to the program. Give 100% and then some to Phase 1. When you're tempted - push through it. It will pay off - you will loose weight and by committing 100% to every word in that book - you will loose the max you can in that first 9 days. And it will motivate you like nothing else can. Guess that's the same advice I need to hear right now. lol

The other thing is keep food journals. Peertrainer helps me TONS with that. And if you want support - wow, that's a great place for it. Everyone has a common goal and tons of experience to help you out as well.

Just focus on what you want to look like and feel like at the end of the journey - then focus on keeping that lifestyle in check. It's damn hard. I'm on my last 10 lbs and man...I get it now why everyone says they are the hardest. But this is the point where I always fail. I always say - well I came this far so screw it. I'm done. Can't this time though. Have to push through this and get it done. This time it's for lifetime.

    You will be

There is a link on Peertrainer that outlines Phase 1. Let me find that for you - you can at least see what is allowed. It's minimal - but remember it's just 9 days.

Those 9 days can be daunting but only if you let it - it's just 9 days and it jump starts your metabolism...just push through it. Avoid the scale like they say for the first 9 days too and see how much you loose in that time...it's awesome!

I asked some girls at work to help me out and get back on target. Turning 40 on June 5th and really wanted to be at goal - which means 10 more pounds...not sure I can do it in a month - and today - not sure I want to. There is another book called The Beck Diet Solution - which teaches you how to think like a thin person - deals with more the psychological aspect of weight loss. They're going to get the book too and we'll work at it together and keep each other focused and on track.

Now if I can just convince hubby

Glad to hear you're doing well - keep me posted and def let me know when you're starting your detox phase!
