C4 trannies

ok guys, I used to be die hard chevrolet since i was 10, got bit by the fox body, and have inherited my stepmoms '66. Gotta get over here now, but she said there had been ford tranny issues with the C4 as this car has had its rebuilt and replaced several times...question: What's the issue?

depending on the year model, C4's are usually pretty dependable. What were the symptoms of the issue she kept having?
