What fits on a 351 Cleveland?

Hey,

Just bought myself a 1973 Mustang Grande and it has a 351 Cleveland in it and I really have no idea as far as what will bolt up to these classic engines. I'd really like to know what heads will fit on here and where you guys have bought from. thanks

From the little bit I do know of them apparently the heads are pretty good in stock form. I think there are 2 castings based on whether you have a 2bbl or 4bbl carb. People have gone as far as to swap cleveland heads on a windsor block (Clevor) with great results.

The best heads are imported from Australia, but even the American heads are way better the Windsor heads. Not much swaps between a Windsor and a Cleveland except alternator, power steering pump, and AC compressor. Obviously the carb is swappable. My dad recently built one with closed chamber Aussie heads that he ported at home, an edelbrock air gap Intake and a howard cam, it makes over 425 bhp.

Well sounds like theres not alot of variation regarding the heads. You guys know anything regarding what alot of people swap in cam wise to grab a little more power from the stock heads.
Ajzride you had said howard cams? Are those good cams to try and swap in or are they only for that head?

It's already got a 4 barrel carb and I will grab some new headers and port and polish the heads but don't know exactly how else to boost this old engine besides some better cams. Any suggestions?

You need to pick a cam that is good for your intake, heads, rockers ratio, and compression ratio. For my dad the one that was a best fit was from Howard. But Lunati, Comp, and Crane also have good options.
