you site the article which in turn sites the quote.

i dont think they did though, they just said he said it. which i guess is citing it, but its odd saying

Calley Said "Quote" (article author)

and is it odd in a reaseach paper citing things constantly?

If you are trying to cite the quote you need to find the origin if the person did not site the quote.

Then just look up where the statement came from and disregard the article.

Do you have a grasp on what style your school uses for citations? ( I do not mean to be a dick)

I think you need to do some research on the assignment. Look for Mai Lee, the person who played the character.. ect. In other words research. lol

I don't need an article that is misquoted on an assignment that I do not have to do.

Research it dude. That is what school is about. no one ever said it was easy. lol That is how you learn though.

i think that your lost now, because i have 2 pages single spaced on the subject of My Lai (ME LiE) which was a massacre that happened March 16, 1969

all i wanted to know is when i cite a direct quote from Lt. William Calley (what he told the troops of Charley Company of the 11th brigade) do i cite the author of the article the quote was in, or Lt. Calley, if i do Cite Calley how would i go about citing him

all i can find is how to cite an interview (this is the closest i can find to citing a quote) however quote was not taken from an interview.

I found this for ya..
http://edgenet.edgewood.edu/lss/writ...pdf/quotes.pdf

MLA style—
If you are writing a paper in MLA style, you may use the abbreviation qtd. in in your citation.

Of course only do this if you can’t find the original source.

Example: As Arthur Miller says, “When somebody is destroyed everybody
finally contributes to it, but in Willy’s case, the end product would be virtually the
same” (qtd. in Martin and Meyer 375).

Since you don’t have the original Arthur Miller material, you cite Martin and Meyer,
and Martin and Meyer go in your reference list.
