Full 1920x1080, 20000:1 CR, 2ms response time, ASUS product for $180. Sounds like a good deal to me. Like Lefty said, run a dual setup. They're great.

thanks guys. This about the same, just bigger?

Terrible monitor. Just send it to my house and I'll show you how terrible it is......

I'm already in your house...
I would pass... It has an orange power button.

Legit to both. I have a 22" 2ms Asus monitor myself. Great stuff.

Can you tell me, what are the differences between these two, aside from one being gloss black, lulz, and which you would consider better?

They are so closely the same it's ridiculous man. You'd never tell the difference. I doubt you'll use the in monitor speakers. I'd personally get Newegg.ca - Asus VE248H Black 24" 1920X1080 2ms Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1, VESA Compatible for the LED backlighting. You once said your wife liked to watch movies on the computer and I think that that would give a slightly better color contrast.
All right. And lastly, do you think 24 is a good size? Should I step up to a 27 for another 100 bucks? Is it worth that price increase for the step up?

Well, what size is your current monitor? I went from an 18" laptop to my 22 and it looked bigger than a TV... 24" is a pretty big monitor for the average person.
Right now I am on a 20" BENQ FP202W.
This would be the list of 27" ASUS monitors from newegg dot ca I can choose from, minus the expensive one.
Newegg.ca - Computer Hardware, Monitors, LCD Monitors, ASUS, 27"

I have had an Asus VH242H for a year now and my only complaint is the 1 permanently red pixel. I've only used the built-in speakers for about 5 minutes and they were alright.

Well, Newegg.ca - ASUS VE276Q Black 27" 1920X1080 2ms Full HD HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor w/Display Port & Speakers 300 cd/m2 100,000 :1 (ASCR) is the one I'd choose from that list. The decision is yours, but 27" is a huge fucking monitor if you're not gaming or something of that sort. Hell, it may be best for you since the entire movie thing. I personally don't like anything bigger than 24". I find my self actually moving my head to see the other side of the screen.
To put it into perspective, take 2 pieces of paper (notebook, printer, etc) and hold them side by side with lines(if notebook paper) horizontal. That is the width of a 22" monitor. Much bigger than you realize lol.
Thanks very much guys. You rule
