Rktsci25's 01 GT Coyote Swap 440rwhp, 30 mpg

My mustang has seen a lot of changes in the past 3 years I have owned it. It was an auto, then had a t-56, now has a t-56 magnum (I didn't like the gearing of the original 56). It's been vortech'ed for quite awhile now, and it's starting to get a bit boring, and I want to change it up a bit.

So it's time for a coyote swap! I opted for the low compression (.5:1 version, as I do plan on putting a TVS on it later. I am shooting for 440 rwhp, and 30mpg. I got 25 with the blower, and will have lower gearing and less weight than a new gt, so we shall see how that turns out. The sleeper effect is just the icing on the cake in my opinion. I'm really hoping it turns out sounding "somewhat" like a 2V with cold air and long tubes.

Current parts list includes:
9.5:1 compression 5.0 Coyote, designed for s/c applications
new wiring harness from ford racing
BBK coyote swap long tube headers
S&R performance alternator, and power steering relocation brackets
Steeda Battery Relocation kit
Custom aluminum coolant tank for where the battery used to be
UPR Tubular K-Member

I know that I need to convert to a return style fuel system, but am not all that familiar with the system, perhaps somebody could provide a bit of input there. I found the stuff for switching on a regular 2V, but am not sure what is no longer needed when dropping in an engine designed for the system and a paired ECU.

I am doing the work myself, with the help of a few friends who are a bit more knowledgeable than I, and some guidance and tips from my boss. I've already taken the majority of the blower components off, and the car is looking really sad right now.

I am somewhat going off of the "write up" that s&r put up on here awhile ago swapping into an 01 bullit. Though I am moving the battery and the ecu slightly and trying to maintain my fenderwell CAI.

For some reason I am having trouble uploading pictures to this. So below are the links.

Thanks. It's going to be a process, though it'll be worth it. I mean can you really argue with 440 and 30mpg. I'm in the process of trying to figure out all the requirements and parts required to switch to a return style system. Then it's assembly time. The engine and old k-member should be coming out this weekend, and the battery relocation going in.

Hopefully my trolling for fuel parts works well, and I can get that system in by next weekend.

Interesting. But why the coyote. Why not just build the bottom end?

Multitude of reasons:
-Trickflow is the only company that makes aftermarket heads for 2V's
-I want to TVS it eventually (next year or so)
-I wanted something semi-original
-The people I get my parts through don't have 99-04 parts anymore. So, to make better use of my contacts, I went with the new motor, as they have more products for those. Paying msrp for things is overrated.

I thought about a termi swap, but it came down to a lot of the same reasons, and now I have a brand new motor complete with warranty and all. Sure, it will be more work, but I think it will be worth it.

The regular ones were something around there, the lower compression ones were a bit more. But those numbers are msrp, and not what I paid for them...

We are also running the work car in Belle Rose on 3/24. I will be bringing my mustang up as well. No doubts plans can be made to see the final product.

I paid 8 flat after tax and shipping. Jegs has the engine right now for 7400+tax, and the harness is listed as $1800 before tax and shipping on the 2012 ford racing catalog.

part numbers:
m-6007-a50sc (engine)
m-6017-a504v (harness)

If you look about 9 months ago on here there is one from s&r performance that was put into an 01 bullit. I'm doing one slightly different but you can see how much it fills up the bay.

My boss has some fantastic contacts in the racing industry with companies like steeda, rpp, chassis shop. That's what has made this swap feasibile.
