Yeah it's nice to be able to drive the car regularly again.

UPS man just dropped off a nice box for me:

20150313_182557-1 by Edgethis, on Flickr

It came with all the bolts/studs for the axle also. I just have to get new shafts and have the center put together. I am going to drop this off at the powdercoater on Monday, I'm debating between a nice blue (similar to the cars color) or just black. The center chunk is a nice silver/aluminum color.

Looking to order the gears and truetrac tomorrow. I'm debating between 3.50 and 3.70 gears.

I think you should go 3.70 since you have a 5 speed.

I don't remember do you have a t5? I have a t5 and 3.73 and it's a great combo still better than stock but it's not too high reving on the highway like 4.10's

Thanks for the tips guys. I ordered the 3.70 gears and the True trac. That Eaton differential price tag was hard to swallow.

you'll have to let me know how the MTF radiator fits in the stock mounting location. MY Champion doesn't fit very well.

UPS man brought another package today

20150326_155641 by Edgethis, on Flickr

I have heard good things about these, so I decided to run one since my block is pretty old and the radiator is a little pricey to get clogged with gunk.

Dropped the differential parts off at a shop to have them assemble the center chunk.

20150327_143322 by Edgethis, on Flickr

I feel pretty good about them doing the gears. I pulled up to their shop and they have a super clean fox body that looks showroom clean in there, they were in the middle of a gear change on a S197 and they have a couple old firebirds (~ealry 70's) sitting off to the side of the shop with new painless harness boxes ready to go in.

Getting things ready for the radiator install tomorrow. I needed to mount the fan switch so I decided to mount it to the shroud. I removed the fan shroud so I wouldn't have any chance of damaging the radiator during the mounting.

Here's the radiator without the shroud and fans:

20150327_191046 by Edgethis, on Flickr

I was a bit surprised to see that there are 2 spots that are dented....its where the very tip of the fan motor is. Hopefully that isn't an issue.

Here's a shot all put back together with the switch mounted. I'm thinking of sticking the probe in the lower hose vs stabbing the fins with it.

20150327_210229 by Edgethis, on Flickr

I also have a new aluminum water pump and Gano filter that I will be installing. hopefully it all goes fairly smoothly.

It was a long day. I finally got it all together. Still have a few things to fix. The water pump and thermostat swap went pretty pain free.

20150328_123350 by Edgethis, on Flickr

Any idea what causes the timing cover to get like this:

20150328_100240 by Edgethis, on Flickr

It was also on the pump:

20150328_105113 by Edgethis, on Flickr

I didn't get a good shot of the radiator installed, they all came out blurry.

The radiator install was rather tame compared to my usual projects lol. I forgot to get new hose clamps, that was a nightmare. Those clamps you get at the auto houses are pretty much one time use it seems.

I was lucky that the four bolts that hold the 20" radiator also can be used to hold the 24"s brackets. I did have to slot the holes slightly to allow me to slide the lower brackets back a bit so the radiator wasn't against the the radiator support.

The shroud is very nice, though i did have to adjust it to be able to slide the upper hose on all the way. Not a big deal, four bolts and its done. The only issue I have to resolve is that I couldn't get the fans to come on. I have everything wired up, but after working at it for 10 hours I had to settle for no leaks. I'll double check the wiring in the morning. I'm not sure how to adjust the fan switch, hopefully thats all it needs.

Here's a few pitcures of the radiator. You can't really notice it through the grille. I've read that some people don't like aluminum radiators because they show through the grille. Here's a shot dead on.

20150329_084148 by Edgethis, on Flickr

Here's a couple shots witht eh hood up. It is definitely a tight fit. I need to get the inserts for the upper mount. Currently it just has foam weatherstriping in it.

20150329_084202 by Edgethis, on Flickr

20150329_084212 by Edgethis, on Flickr

The reason for the hose clamps on the middle of the upper hose is there is a Gano coolant filter in there.

That looks like a nice clean fit. As far as what causes that on the back of the water pump I always thought it came from some water getting in there. I've had it on several water pumps I removed.

It is a very nice fit. i jsut have to figure out what size mount to put in the upper bracket and it will be perfect.

I figured thats what could cause that rust, wanted to double check.
