Blue67coupe's 67coupe build

Decided i've been here long enough and not planning on going anywhere so why not start a build thread.

Car was bought back in Aug of 06 when I was 14. Car wasn't originally intended to be mine it is a long story but my dad bought it thinking my sister wanted one and she already had a car and didn't feel like spending the money on a old car at the time. So I told my dad that I could just get it as a first car and he luckily agreed.

Within maybe the next 7 months or so the car didn't get too much done since I didn't even have my license at the time.
Took it to it's first car show in April at my church and took 1st with there only being 1st-3rd prizes out of maybe 25 cars.

From that moment on is when I decided I wanted to build the car up to be a little more unique but try to keep it semi show worthy while also being a daily.
The build was slow however due to things braking just as often as I was upgrading. So maintence was in the way of modding too much.
Very first mod though was true duals with Flowmaster 40's.
Ran that stock setup with exhaust for less than 2 years until this happened.

Was starting the car in the garage about to leave when a fuel line split and fuel was ignited.
All in all was a cheap fix but was very ugly after that so I browsed ebay and found a breather that was powdercoated Ford blue

My stock hood after the incident :/

Found this hood on Craigslist for $50.00 and picked it up the same day

Then of course had it painted

Next on the list was 4 barrell carb and an Edelbrock air gap intake

Originally tried running a Holley 600 but after multiple tuning problems I went with and Edelbrock 600 and out of the box it was great. Minor adjustments and it ran excellent.

Bought some LED guages lights to get rid of the dull green lights

Also bought a Grant wheel which the quick release for it but before even installing it I decided to keep the stock wheel.
After bought a matching breather and valve covers that have 289 Competition Proven lazer etched in them

Then my radio decided to crap out so I got a new one that looks classic while having all new features

Decided to buy a new trunk lid in hopes of getting rid of the rack and found a craigslist add and the man just wanted to get rid of his parts not being used so I came out with a trunk, blinker hood and some old diagram book for $25.00

Turned around and sold the hood for $50. Sanded down the majority of the trunk and then stopped working on it.

Bought some Hooker long tubes for it early 2009 I think

Then going from stock manifold the car had alot more breathing room but caused the car to go really quite (which I hated) so within a month I had the exhaust dumped.

Got tired of the skinny stockers so I got a set of slotted mags off craigslist for $75.00 with tires but they were shot.

My new drag radial rears compared to my stock rear tires

This was the size difference

Got a little bored over a weekend and decided to paint on a black taillight panel

Rear all changed

Found a set of cheap fog lights on ebay

Followed up the front on some black accents to go with the back

My cousin had this shifter in his 68 Camaro and I always loved it so I went ahead and got one for myself

It is a Hurst V-Matic II

Put a little mini tach on the column

Added some yellow traction bars

Ordered a 3" cowl hood

Had the local Highschool body shop class paint it for $200. Since they can't charge for labor

Window tint was done shortly after

Somewhere along the lines of all the exterior mods being done that I should finally go for some power. In came the 351W

However found out it was pulled from a truck and to get some power would require more money that I was looking to spend at the time so that has been sold a while back.
Planning on doing a Weiand supercharged 302 with a T5 instead.
And currently i'm trying to get a California Special trunk lid but the guy on craigslist won't even replay or answer calls anymore

It hasn't really come all that far but it is a work in progress and I still have a lot of plans for it.

Looks great so far. I like the progress. I also plan to do a Cali rear end swap. Found all the fiberglass parts for about 500 online. However I'd be keeping the stock lights. You need to get a blue LED for your tach now.

I really do need to do the tach idea. But 500 seems steep to me on a trunk and end caps, although it is what I spent on the hood. I was looking over the thread after I made it and swore more has been done to the car. Then I realized all I was thinking about were repairs and I wasn't going to post those

Yeah, the 500 was for all fiberglass parts but its still a bit steep. How does teh car sound with the flowmasters on it. I was really wanting to put super 44's on mine but I am kinda thinking about some nice magnaflows.

I loved it before I did the headers
Was loud and it absolutely screamed at WOT.
I have a video of the dumped exhaust with headers as well

I have since wanted to switch back to manifolds and leave it dumped. It is alright how it is but I still miss the sound with the manifolds. I'm not sure if I have 40's or super 40's, I can't remember but it is 40 series for sure.

I like the sound of it with manifolds a bit better too. I like the exhaust to be a very low deep rumble at idle, then scream at WOT. Lucky me I already have headers tho. I plan to add an H pipe and some nice quality mufflers like the magnaflows.

I like the look of those ladder bars too. Did you notice anything after putting them on?

Not too much really, they are designed to stop/limit wheel hop of course. But I never really had wheel hop issues before anyways the launching seems a little better after those though and burnouts smoother.

Thought I would update to say progress on the 67 is basically done for quite a while.
But here is a most recent picture

And this is where most of my money shall go now
Purchased (4/5/12) It's a 2003 Stage 2 Roush

Had it not even a full two days and decided to paint the grille for contrast

Playing around with photobucket editing

Full Roush interior with the comfiest seats i've ever sat in

Had some fun in a couple tunnels on the way home

Order the ROUSH letters for the windshield and the rear glass. Ordered them in matte black for a subtle stealth look. And eventually plan on going to the Roush spoiler but I like the Cobra one for now.

Thanks, the Roush kit is actually my favorite. I paid $9,500 for this one. Mainly because KBB said a base GT would average around $8,200 and in my area they are still pretty much all around that price. So for a base and then to add on the bodykit, paint for the bodykit, the suspension, and interior would easily run me 4K over this one. And considering I could get a real Roush cheaper than to try and build a clone of some sort I jumped on it.

Thank you sir I had a blast driving it around and showing friends. Even better seeing people I knew driving and surprising them by pulling up next to them and rolling the window down

Holy crap I just realized I had made a build thread. I was going to start one and then found this one. Sadly not a whole lot has happened since this has last been updated. Mainly just replacement parts or maintenance on my Roush. However I did get a lot of car parts for christmas (Most of which were presents to myself from me haha). I had even considered selling the Roush to put more time and money into this one. But as it sits this is the upcoming projects I have for it.

Also have a monte carlo bar and the new gauge bezel coming in, those were on back order. Then need to go pick up a welder as well for the floor pans and I bought sub frame connectors that aren't in the picture.

I plan to try and cut the valence to have the r style to it. I wasn't wanting to buy it in fiberglass so figured i'd try it with this one.

Then was bored one night and couldn't sleep so I started removing the a/c compressor and components since it's had a leak and hasn't worked in years anyways. Also putting new valve cover gaskets and fixing a lifter issue. Just haven't pulled out the dash unit yet

Also a few months ago the car started to have some really bad steering problems and badly needed and alignment. However it was all wore out and CJPonyParts was having a big sale so I got a really good deal on almost all the entire front suspension.

Car still looks the exact same for now though

This will stay a slow build i'm sure but i'm trying to buy more for it more often and will try to keep this updated more frequent. I'm also trying to track down a decent priced 351W. But it's not at the very top of the list of work right now. Just if I happen to find a good deal on one.
