Loud Noises

My laptop (HP Pavilion DV7) has been making a weird buzzing noise for a week or 2 now and I can't figure out what the fuck it is. My first thought was the fan because it is coming from the upper left side near one of the vents (same place that I made another thread about when it was getting hot as hell) but it seems like it doesn't turn on and off with the fan. It's just starts at random. Sometimes it will only do it for like 20 min. and other times it will do it for hours. When it first started I could tap where the noise is and it would go away. It wasn't a hard tap either. I would use my pen and tap it about as hard as you normally would like in class tapping your pen on your desk. That doesn't work anymore and now it's at the point where it is doing it almost constantly. Anyone have any ideas? I have it sitting on a cooling pad btw and I checked it and I don't think it's the pad making the noise.

Have you opened up the latptop at all? I would open it up and use some spray to get all the dust out of the laptop. At this point you can also check to see if anything is loose.

Other then that I have no idea. I know my laptop started making some funny noises and when I cleaned it out they all stopped and it has been running faster and cooler ever since.

Mine doesn't shut off and I run it on high graphics constantly. I turn them down every once in a while when I am playing games like Dead Space or Fallout but BF doesn't make it get too hot. I mean it get's hot but not to the point I am worried about it. But I did get a cooling pad and it has helped out.

i have the same laptop and it dont make noise at all. im almost certain the fan is the only moving part in the thing so it almost has to be it. well the hdd maybe i think but if that was making the noise im sure it would not work at all

thats actually a good idea lol. if its like a high pitch whistle sound its fan most likley. then again im saying its fan period simply because if the hdd the only other possible moving part is making that kind of noise it would be crashing or already dead.

I will try to next time it does it. Naturally now I want it to make the noise it isn't. lmao. It is kinda high pitched. Not a screech though.

It just didn't seem like it was behaving like a fan. It's just random. BTW the noise is nowhere near as loud as it is in the video.
