i think im gonna start hunting for a set of aluminum wheels to replace these 16" steel wheels on it now. id like some 17" wheels like this. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mt...1785/overview/ anyone know the proper backspacing for an OBS powerstroke?

Got a rough final estimate two weeks ago, going to be about 4G's to fix it. The heads finally went. Time for studs.....

Ouch. Considering all the labor, machine work, and cost of studs for two heads, that doesn't sound that unreasonable though. Diesels sure are pricey.

Yea. Can't wait to finish paying it off and get rid of it.

As for the price for the work, it's not that bad considering, as you said, the work involved. Guy told me the only way he works on them is to lift the cab on them. The heads are pulled and sent to a local machine shop where they are checked for cracks, zero decked/milled, and have all new seals installed. He pulls and cleans the turbo, replaces all the sensors as need be, installs a new oil cooler if the need arises, has access to Ford's OASIS - so I can see if the dealer was telling the truth when I bought the truck, etc. etc. He knows the guy personally that wrote my tune, so he's going to tweak it when its all done. Since I've modded the truck quite a bit already it helped on the price. Exhaust is done, EGR is long gone, coolant filter is in, and a few other things. He only uses Ford Motorcraft stuff and ARP studs. Job is warrantied for 2 years.

That even makes me nervous.

Also a PSA for all diesel owners; looks like Valvoline Premium Blue 15W-40 is on sale for $11.99/gal at NAPA through the end of the month.

That's a 22,000 lbs loader and probably another 8,000 lbs just in the trailer.

Heavy.

The guy that posted the info said it should be about 29,000lb GVW, although the truck is rated at 24,000lb, so it's not horribly overloaded. The 10+ 3500 DRWs top out at 30,000lb, which I think is more of a class limit than an actual vehicle limit.

Still, between that height and how much she's squatting I'd be nervous as hell.

5k over is still pretty sketch. I remember pushing my F250 with 17,000lbs. Even with my air bags filled up to 100PSI the truck still had a small squat, there was like 4K lbs of media in the bed and the trailer was full of equipment. Getting off the highway was intense.

My 6.4 chewed and spewed a belt today. I changed the belt and the tensioner, but I swear to baby Jesus if I have to go through the hell of changing it again I'm going to set it on fire and roast marshmallows over its burning carcus.

I've got a few question about a 05 lly I own. There for awhile it was going into limp mode on me. Checked the codes and it was throwing like 5 code. Number 2 & 7 injectors weren't responding, injector module not responding, and a cam sensor. I went ahead and done the ice pick trick on numer 2 & 7 injector connector and it ran good for awhile. Well it started its shit again and I just went ahead and bought new connectors. Went to put them on and it just so happens someone has already replaced them. What are the chances of another set of injector connectors messing up? I'm gonna go ahead and replace them. The crimp connectors looked nice and secure on them so I don't know what else to do. Also checked the harness beside the alternator and all the wires are good. The problems I'm having are pretty common for a lly. Just not sure what the problem
Is.

How bad are belts on the 6.4?

Once you take the top half of the radiator shroud, clutch fan and the damn wire that plugs into the top of the radiator it's a piece of cake.

I tried for an hour and s half to get it on without removing all that stuff. After I finally gave in and did it right it wasn't bad.

There's another belt tucked in behind all that junk. I'm terrified of that one.

You'll probably be fine with just a front leveling kit

That will be a little too big for stock suspension.

Do not put blocks up front.
