I don't know what everyone's issue is with the search button. I use it all the time and the results I am looking for are usually on the first page within a couple lines of the top. No, it won't immediately answer your question but heaven forbid someone have to do some light reading.

Sme helpful tips for using the search button are choose a couple keywords (not a sentence) and select the section of the forum you expect it to be in. For instance, if you were curious about horsepower gains for Mac headers on a 2006 GT you could highlight 05-10 and search "Mac hp gain".

If you use the search button you can get answers to your questions now rather than making a thread and waiting a couple hours for a good response.

When I search I use advanced search and select only titles. Works fine for me that way

Mods don't beat yourselves up. You guys do a pretty good job and you guys post like normal members. I feel that none of you act as if you are above an average member :

I give help whenever i can. One of my biggest peevea is when people ask something, you give them the answer/quide them in the right direction, then they go in a completely different direction.

Ex) v6 section, guy asked why his car is drinking coolant but no white smoke from the exhaust. Numerous people said to drain the oil, he pulls the dipstick and says "its clean and up to the full line" or "pulled the filler cap and theres a little bit of milky oil on it"

I'm actually fed up with the power hungry mods here...All they do is belittle people and act like we're some kinda average joe while they're some king or prince. Not sure if it's because they all drive these super high line acura TLs and we drive mustangs or what but it's getting old tiring..

Just kidding, I have no such issues.

I visit a number of Mustang forums and often see the same questions asked again and again on all of them and sometimes have seen the same person ask the same question on multiple forums. One of the differences on some of the other forums is that some of the frequent contributors will happily answer the same questions over and over in an effort to be helpful without making the newbies feel unwelcome. They value the community and the increase of knowledge that the forum is capable of providing so they are willing to be patient and helpful rather than just saying 'find it yourself with the search function'. Everybody starts somewhere, they found MM using google so they likley understand the concept of 'search'. The trafiic on those forums reflect the effort of those type contributors. I'm just saying...

The only thing I have noticed sort of lacking in the forum was the 5.0 section. A few years ago Flyin Ryan, 93hatch, 93mustank, etc. were banned and a bunch of the super knowledgeable foxbody guys left to different forums (Fogged306, Faststang91lx, 302Army, etc.) After that it seemed as if the 5.0 section didn't really have many knowledgable people to answer the questions in the section and it became a hell of a lot more boring. So, I have not really been in their for a year to two. I miss the old 5.0 MM section lol.

Problem is if you type this into the search, it will only search for "gain" since the other two words are too short for it to search for.

That brings up another interesting topic, bans. I feel the ability to ban has been abused a bit. Not saying any names, and I am sure it's discussed amongst the mod room, but I think some bans should weigh the pros and cons before getting rid of a beneficial member.

That's a big let down to hear about the 5.0 section. If it came down to that, I would just switch forums like all of the other veterans, haha.

With all of that being said, I'm sure it's a bitch being one of the very few mods to balance the budget and put a smile on everyone's face. MM is huge, the biggest mustang forum I believe, and one of the largest automobile forums to rule the net. I feel a larger Mod force is required when your regular member count begins to exceed huge amounts. I am surprised their isn't more recruiting or considerations: especially since some mods say that being a mod in this large of a forum is like a part time job, and than some.

Huh? It works fine for me. I just typed that in and it brought up the exhaust threads that mentioned Mac products and their gains...

I don't mind answering all the noon and small questions most of the time. But now that I've been here longer I don't go into detail with my response I just keep it short.

I love this place. Check it constantly everyday. My only thing is that everything ever posted turns into gay shit. I don't mind it in moderation but holy fuck it's annoying now. And I'm not trying to bad mouth mm but lately I've enjoyed the more serious side of s197. Sure a sex joke it's fun, but fang if it gets in the way of answering the op's question than it is clearly not the time or place.

MM is awful. Don't ever come here if you haven't been sucked in already!

Hmm, guess you're correct. My bad! Must be the other forums that do it. Apparently MM has the best search function then...haha

I tried to pick apart this sentence, luck would have it though, it is perfect grammar.

Try dealing with it for the last 6 years. I used to joke about it too, 5 years ago. Now I also think its annoying as fuck. That and all the PIITB comments, PIITB is seriously the dumbest shit ever.

Out of all the different forums I have been on (rangerstation, 600rr, f150forum, and 3 separate powerstroke forums) this one seems to be the least ban happy.. I was actually surprised when I first got here to see how far they will let you go.

what do you mean the ability to ban has been abused? we're EXTREMELY lenient when it comes to banning people, sometimes almost to a fault. at the end of the day, if a person gets banned, it is 100% due to their actions and their disregard to the rules. we never ban people based on one mod's opinion of them or anything like that. we give them chance after chance after chance

and i'm kind of surprised to see so much hate in this thread. we usually see threads of people praising the site. not sure what's changed other than the lack of help in the tech sections, which isn't anything the mods can change, but should be up to the members to try to offer their help to people in need

funny how the people that always tell others to use the search function are the first to complain when people say it to them too
