Does anyone cut their grass anymore?

Just wondering who does it their selves and who pays and if you care to share, how big your lot is and what you pay.

If you cut it yourself, what kind of equipment do you use?

How often do you cut/have it cut?

I have a 1/2 acre and I use a Gravely 50" zero turn, Husqvarna self-propelled, Shindaiwa weed-eater and Shindaiwa blower.

(I'm bored and just cut grass)

A man is not a man unless he cuts his own grass. I don't give a crap if your loaded. I have 1.25 Acres, probably 3/4 of an acre of actual grass and I use a Craftsman 26 inch push. Cut it once a week.

Hell no I don't pay someone. I use a Big Dog X series, which is the same as a Hustler FasTrak. I mow about 3 acres, and I started off with a Crapsman 28" cut, hydrostatic drive, pos. it took 4 hours with the crapsman, and it takes an hour and 15 minutes with the Bog Dog. Money well spent.

I just have a normal sized yard, I mow 2x a week when in season. I will NEVER pay to have someone mow my yard. Its like having someone else wash your car for you. My dad and uncle both have lawn services. They use these:

My uncle has an aftermarket scissor lift under the hopper. You just back up to his truck, flip a switch, and the hopper raises and tilts dumping out the clippings.

Yes, 15 acres of land. Hook up the cutter to the tractor and hop on with a few beers.
Stepdad would do it more, but he seems to be busy a lot.

My lot is ~0.25 acres and I mow it myself with a Toro self propelled push mower, Toro weed whacker and a Troy Bilt blower.

My dad and I alternate with yardwork/cutting the lawn. We have 3 ride-ons. A Craftsman that we got when we bought the house (14 years ago), a Craftsman that we found being thrown out (only needed a spark plug), and last year we got a new Craftsman. Our lawn takes about an hour and a half to cut. Its a pain in the ass though because we get a lot off leaves and this year a ton of black walnuts. My favorite is mowing our family's lakehouse. Nothing like getting away for a few days with no cell phone service and cutting some overgrown grass in the crisp mountain air.

I honestly HATE people who don't cut their own grass when they can (I know some people own multiple properties and don't have the time, ect.) My fucking neighbor gets their lawn cut by a company and it pisses me off when they park their trailer in the middle of the road and then grass gets all over my car. Cut your own damn grass you lazy fuck.

I had my grass cut about a month or 2 ago for the first time...and the last. I was working a lot of OT and, honestly, I was just tired/lazy. I got the attention of the neighborhood lawn service guy and asked him how much. He said $40 and I regretfully agreed and left for work. The next day I woke up(about 1pm) and went outside to check it out. They did a "good" job but no one cuts your yard as good as you...naw meeen?! Anyway, lesson learned.

I thought people had kids to do chores like that?
My dad mows the lawn. I used to until we had some 'when the lawn should be mown' disagreements and he took over.

I used to pay $35 every two weeks to have mine mowed until one of the guys destroyed one of my bushes trimming it. Now I do it myself with a good old push mower and weed eater. only have .1 acre.

I started paying to have it cut this year. It's a 1 acre lot mostly taken up by the house. 25.00 a week. I just got tired of getting up at the crack of dawn on Saturdays to cut the yard. Also I hate yard work. It was my dad choice of punishment for me growing up.

It's not a lot. That's close to what I have. It's mostly all backyard. The sides are wide enough for 1 swipe with a mower per house and the front is smaller than my 2 car driveway.
