I'm going to California!

For the first time ever. I just booked a flight to Long Beach. Gonna go skydiving for a week in nice weather!

So excited..never been west of Colorado before.

I'm used to that. But we'll be in the mountains I think. Perris Valley.

I think I'm at 85. Gonna make 100 at Perris. I may also look into getting my B there, as well as some wind tunnel time.

I wish they actually used the DC-9

I'm not lazy, it's just that nobody wants to give water training at my DZ unless there are girls.

The weather is the only thing I miss about California. I hated everything else about that state.

Hahahaha. I had water training before I had my a. It's easy common sense. Take off your cheat strap. Disconnect rsl. Certain situations when you should/shouldn't cut away. Container with a packed reserve is a flotation device for ~45 minutes.

And loosen your leg straps to the point of where you can still steer. And DO NOT FLARE.

To get out of your harness swim down and out so you can clear the main. If you pop up in the main, find a seam and follow it to the end of the cell.

This. I went to California for a wedding back in 2011 or 2012 and hated life the entire time I was there. I only ended up in Cali once more after that to pick up my carbon fiber trunk lid. If I never go back, I'll be happy.

Are you staying in LB or Perris?

I did my flight training around Perris. Its nice over there. A little dry...We're in a huge drought right now, but the weather is awesome. Also, if you go to Lake Perris, do not go in the water.... No matter how tempted you may be. Downtown LA, parts of Long Beach and any place near Hollywood sucks (unless you're in a tourist spot.)

If you want any recommendations on anything, just let me know. I live 30 minutes from Perris.

We are all trying to get some party house nearby in Perris, but so far we don't have enough people. We may end up camping some and then staying at a cheap room somewhere. There are a lot of options for skydivers.

Whats wrong with the water there? lol

Idk if were gonna go anywhere else. I'm carpooling with an older lady, but depending on time, I was thinking about going to check out some places solo if I have to. What would you recommend? Do people swim now? I'd kind of like to check out the beach..Huntington or Newport maybe?

HB is the way to go for beach activities. If you like sushi, RA is amazing. Eating at Ruby's on the end of the pier would be a fun thing to do. The food there isn't half bad either. I'd also highly recommend walking around Balboa Island and Fashion island in Newport Beach. Lots of nice, expensive things to drool at.

Looks awesome. Do people swim or is it too cold?

---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:41 PM ----------

Just looked it up, water temp is around 60, not terrible. I would definitely swim.

The water is almost always nice enough in hb since seasons don't really exist lol. When are you flying out?
