For sure. If it was my post he wouldn't of made it a 1/4 way across the lawn.

Except for budgets aren't being cut, they're increasing every year.

The problem you'll run into when shooting someone on the lawn of the White House is all the people just outside the fence. What happens to those bullets that miss or go through the target? If no one's around it's easy to say you could shoot him. But people are always all around the White House.

Somewhat disagree. That's relevant to the guys on the ground, but the dude in an elevated post like, say, the roof of the White house? Nah. He had the angle.

I read the article and it doesn't appear that they were risking the president because the president was NOT there.

For all you know they could also have FMJ ammo that would pass right through the subject. Then it doesn't matter what the rounds are if they happen to miss.

That's all well and good if you see it happening. What about all the people who didn't see the person climbing the fence and are just walking by not paying (maybe on their phone)?

Point being, you have to consider what's behind the target. It's not always advantageous to shoot someone and risk hitting civilians when there's ZERO risk to the president. The media would have a frenzy over that shit.

I saw them say the President wasn't there at the time but it was only minutes after he left. That's pretty close. I still think it's a huge failure on the Secret Service's part. I'm not even saying you have to shoot and kill him. Just the fact that he was capable of running into the White House without anyone stopping him, chasing him, etc.

LOL, no... To protect the President or any security detail for that matter they aren't going to be using something that is "toned" down. It gets cold in DC so they have to deal with large amounts of clothing and the threat of someone wearing a vest, etc.

Possibly. I think he's actually Mexican.

Could you image the political backlash if a guy was gunned down in the white house lawn? Sure, he had the right to be shot, but he was a longggg ways from the President. It was much easier to just apprehend him when they did, than try to explain to the general public about shooting him. I'm not against shooting him, but politics are played from both angles. The republicans would have went after the Obama white house for this, anti government people would be rallying about the trigger happy Obama administration, and Fox news would have ran a story about him being a Pre-Med student who had a bad test and was just having a bad day.

By doing It the way they did they avoided a bunch of media backlash, whether the shot would ha e been warranted or not, you'd have half the public saying it was, And half saying it wasn't.

See, if Travolta had gotten out of the helicopter and said, “Senator, Thomas Jefferson never shot anybody for treason on the White House lawn, but I don’t care, ‘cuz I’m shooting you in this trout stream,”

without that article saying he was not there you would of assumed he was.. am i wrong? its not like they advertise a PSA when he is and isn't going to be there.

I can bet Sonic will say the same thing. Stop assuming anything. Gotta have facts.
