Yes, remote wire from aftermarket head unit to toggle to amp. Should be blue wire. I picked my toggle switches up from Radio Shack or Pep Boys. Probably have them at advance or autozone too.

12 gauge should be fine. I used whatever I had. If you can get a reel of 12 that would be good.

Bought my box today. I got it local for 65$. It's the box they pair their jl subs with, and I used the area specs @Marc said on the first page. The construction feels solid as hell, and it looks pretty good to.

---------- Post added at 03:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:50 PM ----------

So I went to test fit the box after I cleaned out the trunk. It doesnt clear my amp rack. Anyone think I'll have any problems installing it behind the amp rack or should I get a different box?

No, I didn't even think about that. That could work, and another option I just though of is put the box on its back. But I feel like that won't project the sound into the cabin as much, even tho it's a wedge box

On a side note, my sub got here. All I'm waiting on is the wire kit, and gotta get some more speaker wire to run from the amp to the box. They were nice enough to throw in some 12 gauge wire to hook the speaker up to the box when I bought it

I just ordered stuff for my system as well. Winter plan is to ditch all that Mach 460 shit and run the doors straight off the head unit. Figure a brand new Pioneer head unit has to put out better sound than 10 year old Ford amps. What say ye @Marc ?

My speakers actually sound really good. But I'd love to redo it ground up. But I'd stay powered speakers personaly

Ok, I'm in love with kicker as a company. I gave them a call for wireing sugestions, and I press send on my phone and this is what happens "ring ring, ring ring, thank you for calling kicker how can I direct your call?" I fucking love that shit. No menus no nothing just people. And the guy I talked to at tech support knew his shit. Knew everything about the sub right off the bat. I call kenwood to verify I can run a 1ohm load and after getting through 4 different menus I get some girl who can't speak and doesnt know squat about shit. I like kenwood products but thank God I never have to call them. And I still didn't get a straight answer to my question.

Also for the screws to hold the sun in the box, just normal wood screws? Forgot to ask when I was talking to kicker

The head unit power is basically all the ford amp is doing for the mids-highs anyway.

And yes, I use drywall screws, 1 1/4 inch long. Make sure to use a screw sleeve to protect the sub. You don't want to punch a hole in the surround.

Thanks marc!
So I did another test fit. I can get the box under the amp rack if I put it on its back, and slide it in from t he cabin. But what's that plastic shroud covering? Can I safely remove it to get more clearence?

Ive wondered this too. In order to fit the box I want to custom make, that has to go. IVe considered ditching the rear "subs" from the Mach 460 to gain clearance, but would rather not if I can get away with it.

We don't have subs in the 460 just rear deck and front doors. Mach 1000 had subs. iirc

Then I have no idea what your referring to then. To the best of my knowledge the door and deck speakers are both 6x8 with tweeters.

I'm talking about the deck speakers, which as I said, I'm aware aren't actually subs, I just tend to think of them that way since a) that's where a majority of the bass comes from afaik, and b) they're connected directly to the amps.

I thought they all were connected directly to the amps? I've always felt my system was pretty well balanced actualy. Lacking bass, but that pic I posted should help with that.
I've always felt the bass on my leg from the door speaker

Fuck, idk how they're wired up. dont see why theyd all be connected when the amps are located at the rear.
